Yeah, right.

Carl, invective and hyperbole may win arguments in the caddy shack but not in the real world. 1st of all, Delta has no 9s so I do have an expectation of not being furloughed if your 9s are parked. If Delta decided to park our 88s I would not have the same expectation.
2nd, was the testimony true that your business plan on exiting BR called for the elimination of the DC 9 and replacing it with a 70-110 seat a/c that would be flown by "NewCo", now called Compass? Did NW budget for a replacement a/c for the mainline?
3rd, as for the 787s were they an addition to your seat capacity in the Pacific or were they replacements for 747s? As for your -200 freighters did they or did they not lose their largest contract with DHL? Does NW have replacement customers lined up? Is that division making money right now? Will those fine venerable and lovely airplanes make a profit when the cargo market picks back up which it inevitably will? Or are they too old and fuel inefficient?
Admittedly, only our side has presented witnesses so far. The evidence however has been compelling. I don't think your lawyer guy has laid a glove on any of the witnesses. We shall see how your side presents their case. Then the the arbitrators will decide. Then I will gladly take a hit off your new turf grass.

Yeah, now they pay more. In the premerger contracts the difference in pay between the 767/757 fleet (213 is the quantity of airplanes, BTW) and the A-330 (32 aircraft, BTW) was a whopping $1.53/hr. But let's poll the Northwest pilot group, even at the new payrates: "Hey, Northwest guys, answer this question in 5 seconds or less: Which would you rather have... 32 widebodies paying $180/hr., or 80 widebodies paying $160/hr.?"--then a follow up question: "Or would you rather have both?-but you will have to share with the other pilot group." -Tell you what, you can fence off your entire 32 A-330s and 71 757s if we can fence off our 80 767-300s and 133 757s...Sound like a fair compromise? Let me know.

I still haven't been able to refute that logic. It's a powerful concern for all of the guys directly involved in this process.
