He doesn’t want to commute to LGA from PHX. Who would? Just pilots either with no life or that live in the Northeast already.

Who says you have to go to LGA to upgrade? I have a friend at Envoy who said the only people getting displaced there are direct entry captains or people coming in with some previous 121 time. If you started with no previous 121 time you should be able to hold whatever base you want as CA by the time you are ready to upgrade. Leaving Envoy for Mesa would just be stupid

Been told that by Envoy FO’s on the Ejet between DFW and IAH. They aren’t happy about it either. Your friend is just lying to you. He is jealous you are at Endeavor.

Having read through most of these threads, trying to make a decision between Mesa, Whiskey and possibly CommutAir (others have been considered and discarded for variety of reasons):

It seems all have a variety of pros & cons (if I take comments at face value). As far as the pros of Mesa (since I'm on the Mesa APC feed):

Quick upgrade time on the CRJ
Max flying
United and American contracts (but for how long on each)?

Cons:

Sub optimal reputation
Sub optimal instruction
Sub optimal QOL

I think I have relative confirmation of the cons and I'm looking to confirm validity of my assumed pros.

Everyone has a quick upgrade, don’t they?

Max flying and a quick line. You don’t find that at CommutAir and Whisky?

I don’t find QOL that bad comparatively. Because you move up quickly, you start getting a line almost immediately. The only thing that makes QOL rough is coverage awards (unstacking).

Any regional that isn’t owned by the legacy carrier has the risk of losing their contracts. It appears apparent to me that American is bringing their regional flying in-house as quickly as they can.

Not everyone is forced to LGA. I flew with an FO who is a forced upgrade straight into DFW 145 CA. He is awaiting training, and thinks he will be able to get a 175 CA award on the next bid (since being displaced to CA means no seat lock). He interviewed in Nov 2016.

Whiskey is holding at 2-3 year upgrade, CommutAir somewhere between 1.5-2 years. Mesa is saying upgrade at 1000 hrs (121 SIC) which with max flying should be somewhere around 1 year (give or take). Is my info on Mesa wrong?

Also, both Whiskey and CommutAir will have reserve time while Mesa is saying no reserve time (almost immediate line). Same question as to validity of Mesa's claim.

Since I don't live in base and likely won't for any of the three, QOL will likely not be a difference maker between the 3.

Appreciate your help in validating the info. . .

Your info on the CRJ is correct. They are so short of FO’s at IAD, they import them from other bases.

What about DFW? For now, that would be a relatively easier commute than IAD

Also, walk me through "unstacking". What is it, when does it happen, does it compare with junior manning?

Relatively new to 121 so any assistance greatly helps.
