But help me out here. You seem to be actively trying to dissuade me from Mesa and I understand some of the cons, but what particularly is driving your opinion (if I'm reading this correctly)?

Since you are going to commute to IAD, they have little reserve time on the CRJ out of DTW at SkyWest. Once you build the seniority to hold a line in DFW, you simply transfer back to DFW.

Full disclosure on SkyWest QOL on reserve. SkyWest have a combination of long call/2-hour call out, rolled into 1. If you are on 2-hour call out, you might get notified the day before to report immediately after a rest period. That means you might be on a 2-hour call out, starting at noon. Crew tracking emails you at 3 pm the day before your reserve assigment and assigns you to a flight departing the next morning at 5 am. This makes commuting on reserve impossible the morning of your first reserve day. Mesa (and most other regionals) don’t have this type of reserve.
Since you are wanting to minimize reserve, it shouldn't impact you.

Good morning. Just wanted to hop on here and get some information from those actually working here.
Currently a crj fo with Envoy, sitting at 700 hours sic. I live in Phoenix and am already sick of commuting to ord and am fearful of where I may end up once I upgrade. In addition I don’t like the writing on the wall over here and honestly think AA is a crappy parent to have.
Anyway I would appreciate any honest feedback you can give. I do know that Phx is more senior so I will most likely have a little bit of a wait and obviously lose my seniority, which is nice to have. How long are the upgrades taking now and are you as short on captains as Envoy?
Thanks

Commuting is hard, even at the majors, but once you are where you want to be, you can always move there. Unless it's NY, NJ, Bos, ORD, LAX, SFO. Those are the only places I would not move too, cuz the suc. For major anyways.
Good luck to you.

If you plan on upgrading quick, then you’ll be on reserve a long time as Captain (unless you get sdf)

But isn't it that way at every other regional (upgrading to CA but on reserve)? Also, seems IAD is hurting too, so wouldn't that domicile also be very short on reserve if at all?

It isn’t a year or more sitting on reserve like some regionals.

Stay where you are. Unless your thinking of making the regionals your life, then yeah go to one that best fits your needs. Otherwise, just stay there and build your time, then go to where you want to go too.
