This was from a LAMA who has been at United for many years. I think it is a plausible theory.
United will get all the 175s (125 I believe)they own and currently leased to express back on their property and have new Aviate pilots go there with a 4 year seat locked
2 as first officer and 2 as captains
all in the United seniority just like Lufthansa does
it will be on their next TA
Little by little 2 year plan to get the 175 going on their certificate
That’s why the 900 will temporary replace the 175

United dictates where the 175s go, cheapest option first. UAL faces the same problem AA faces when the thought of putting RJ’s on the certificate comes up. You gonna go to UAL and fly RJ’s? Or go to AA/DAL/SWA and fly mainline equipment?? How many well qualified pilots will a valid going to UA at the thought of having to fly RJ’s over there vs. bigger planes elsewhere
It’s cheaper for mainline to kick the RJ’s around at the lowest bidding contractor until they get their value out of the planes. Never gonna happen putting them on mainline pay rates

I used to love crew room sorry time too, but you need to step back and evaluate what you are told.

Where would UA put them? Because a (depreciating) asset sitting on the ground doesn't make anyone any money. So where would UA put them?

and during the summer of last year everyone would have laughed if people were whispering about rumors of mesa paying $100 to start

Um yea, United is not going to operate an aircraft that is also used by their regional partners, especially at the increased cost per seat mile that would cause. Ever asked yourself why there are pay scales?

2) Mainline pay rates are lower... $213.75 / hr CA at the Eagle carriers. Starts at $174.97 CRJ CA @ UAL with top of scale at $190.

pay attention
Aviate graduates with an ATP will go to the 175s that United will put on their certificate
Pay will be the same as Mesa . Who do you think pays this huge pay increases in pay Mesa got ?
Lack of pilots and scope ( max 253 for contractors) is the issue and there is a need of 400 or so 175s to feed the expansion United is planning for the next 4years
1200 aircraft fleet is the talk with all orders by 2027

thats not what UAL ALPA thinks for their Future TA….if they ask for scope relief
94% No voters last time around . Not an inch not a dollar of scope relief
again pay attention scope is maxed at 253 and 38 175s will be parked to accommodate the 900s
