What's with this through Jan 10 thing? It's just a way to lower the morale to have people quit. That's the only reason why you announce furloughs months in advance.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happening to Mesaba soon.

No it's to give the individual time to find another job.

Not when it's 6 months in advance and in these economic conditions. They want everyone affected to quit to save some cash. A place like Mesa certainly doesn't care about how much time you need to find a job.

I know 15 line pilots (including me) that were furloughed in October. I guess Mesa still isn't acknowledging us.

...
of course you haven't, where's ALPA and the MAGMEC ... friggin worthless. They're running for the hills i bet. They're a buncha "MAX" credit ... flyme southwest wannabes. They all can rot with the rest of mesa corporate, those P2P lanyards make me want to beeline my elbow into a kidney of there's. BTW im sure all of the guys who are getting the boot did not have a vote because the writing was on the wall and the mec pushed for it all to be done before half the pilot group had the privelege of voting aka denying DBJO and his boy wonders.

mesa sucks... drive a bus.

FOLEY= Nardelli aka "the slash and burn artists" ... and my has he done wonders for chrysler.

I got junior assigned on my day off and that night on the overnight was when they sent my furlough notice. It was kind of funny.

I don't like to see furloughs when there is open time. Per the contract pilots who pick up open time are paid regulair pay-not double time of old. (no one should voluntarily pick up open time when pilots are being furlouged!!!) And re-assingment are also regular time, not time and a half (what ever did happen to that Harris Award?)
I see alot of line pilots being "re-assigned" because Mesa will be short pilots due to furloughs-and it will save the company $. Also any open time will be assigned to reserves. The 418 who voted for this contract knew this.

".....Currently, we plan to furlough approximately 250 pilots through January 2010."

Bad news for everyone. Condolences to everyone hitting the unemployment line.

Who from the company sent this letter out?

The Mesa ship is sinking. If and when the Captain of this ship is asked to take responsibility remains to be seen.
