At this point, Mesa has just notified the SEC that they cannot deliver required 4Q financial statements on time. No time frame is specified. All of the analysts are generally agreed that Mesa can be expected to file bankruptcy at any time. There are no contracts left, no cost savings to be squeezed out...nothing left of value.
Basically....If I were still a pilot at MAG, I would make sure that my sick leave balance was absolutely ZERO at all times from this date forward. With bankruptcy, all debts (including sick leave balances, etc.) are dismissed.
Take your sick leave, enjoy some time off with the family on your terms. In a few months you will be back to nothing again. Anyone with an hour of sick leave left when Mesa goes Ch. 11 should kick themselves.

Mesa really isn't running an airline anymore, they're spending their time and resources tidying up their personal situations before they pull the plug........................employees should do the same.

Mesa can't file chapter 11. They are most likely waiting to make a deal with delta and their lessors. If that doesn't work out by April with the additional boat load of CRJs and Dash8s and ERJs idling, they might pull the plug unless by some miracle Go! can help them out in Hawaii.

I might add, I dont know how often this happens, but if some of your pilot group did not CONSTANTLY lie about their times and put their actual in and out times to the station this MAYBE would not have happen. Its insane to hear the times get reported especially in CLT to ops. I push at 1057, the Mesa planes next to me pushes 5 minutes later and reports an out time of 1047??? SAY WHAT?
Of course voting in this BS contract etc also play a huge part.... In addition what is up with the nearly 7 planes sitting in KCAE with only 3 engines total on the planes? One also having an APU taken out of it. I know its a MX base but damn... Seems odd.....

If Mesa tries to reorganize then you will still get your employee match, you will keep earning time towards your vesting, and your longevity will still be acquired. You will get everything in your contract until they liquidate or a bankruptcy judge throws out your contract in court (which takes a few months). A bankruptcy judge will be hard pressed to throw your contract out because (this isnt a knock on your pilot group) it is numerically lagging behind almost every other regional.

if your are not fully vested then that % that is mesa's is going to be taken out of your account when you stop working for mesa. Fired, Furloughed, or Mesa ceasing to operate will cause that to happen. If you dont have direct deposit you might want to get it done right away. Some companies stop funding their payroll in the very end and once that account reaches zero your paycheck is going to become very difficult to deposit.

I would not leave any money in an account which mag has access to...OJ's final act before boarding his plane to argentina might be a midnight raid on his employee group's personal finances.
