Why are there so few young captains at Mesa compared to the other regionals? Is it just me?

Uh because all the guys that would be young captains were downgraded or furloughed and are now at other regionals

Most regional captains are older from what I've seen riding to work on Skywest and express jet. GoJet has some younger captains, but it's also a younger company.

I flew with a captain out of IAD who is 32.

Yeah the stack of captains at mesa is definitely getting younger. With the upgrades up to a April 2013 hire, I guess it's inevitable seeing as we're in the 600's for upgrades out of 850 total Pilots or so. A lot of good movement for guys.

Interesting. I guess I've just noticed a lot of 20's/30's captains in CLT, mostly PSA.
