Good point regarding the training investment.
Many guys (a year ahead of me) from my last squadron flew regionals for less than six months, and have all been hired by DAL, AA, and UAL. I will have to ask them if they paid anything back.
Still new to all of this 121 vs 135, and trying to be as informed as possible when I separate from the Navy. This website has been beneficial.
Thanks for the info.

Allow me to clarify, you're not on the hook to pay anything back til you've completed your checkride. But the clock starts from date of hire. Correct?
And Sailor, honestly, if you get an offer from a major it'd be worth it to go and risk the contract. Even if it's enforced you're coming out ahead.

We had been emailed the form, but then on the first day of class given another and told it was slightly changed. I could've sworn I read on the physical one it was only effective once training was complete, but the old one doesn't say that... Not sure now.

I think that's standard at all the regionals. The only exception I've heard is the Q400 at Republic, because let's be honest, who wants to go do that?
It's effective from the point you pass your 121 checkride.
With the investment they put into training you, I don't think staying a year is unreasonable. Where else would you go, anyway?

You "think" wrong!

Naturally, I'm sure their are plenty of times that you think "it's" disappeared and then a letter has arrived.
As with any debt/obligation a co. can always obtain legal means until the statute of limitation has expired, correct?
FWIW I hate to say it but being in debt your whole life and then running away from FAA 121 carrier because you have a bright idea to "stick it to the man" and use them can't always be the best way forward. Possibly if you're making 18k a month in china tax free. But hey!
Debt,default,debt,default collections and worse........lawyers.

During my interview I asked about the contract and was told it does not become effective until you pass your checkride.
