So what exactly is taking place in the phone interview? HR questions, tech questions? Or just, hey when can you start?

You got to be kidding right. 3 beers in AZ will get you in trouble. I promise you I am not inherently more dangerous behind the wheel after 3 beers. Now if your so intoxicated you can't see straight yes that is dangerous. Thing is you don't know the situation so that puts you in no position to judge. I think it is great someone gets a second chance. Everyone makes different kinds of mistakes throughout life, learning and moving on is key. I don't understand why you are on the Mesa message board anyway. Does your life suck so much that you have time to post on other airlines message boards? You can read them thats fine but leave your comments on your "I am a good little robot" message boards.
My life is awesome. Thanks for asking!

Are you looking for sunshine and rainbows only? I'm not attacking you but thought we could have an intelligent conversation about hiring practices of airlines. I suppose that's too much to ask for from you guys. I'm sharing the reasons why I didn't choose Mesa for those people who are reading in the shadows and asking if anyone knows of people NOT getting hired at Mesa. If you don't think selectivity is beneficial to a company, then I suppose you'd be okay with someone with 5 or more check ride failures in the last 3 years, or multiple 121 busts.

I agree with a second chance. If you get a DUI in AZ after 3 beers, then I think you should get a second chance. If you get caught
for a second time, from a medical standpoint, it shows possible substance abuse (hence why he lost his medical) and from an aviation standpoint, an inability to make good decisions.

These are facts. This is not me trying to smear your pilot group. If you want to create a message board so you can pat yourselves on the back and only talk about how awesome your company is, then make your own message board. Until then, I will continue to share my 2 cents when I see fit.

Well there are many things you are incorrect on. One I don't pat myself on the back for flying for Mesa. It's the bottom feeder of the regionals and is also why concessions are being asked across the board. In my case they were the only regional hiring at the time. Was already a captain here by the time the other regionals blew up my phone. Two Mesa will hire anybody in the right seat if they have a heartbeat. Training and other factors they figure will wipe them out eventually, if not they have an employee. As far as your view of alcohol dependency, it's at all the airlines and many people drink to much. Hopefully not before flying but even Skywest pilots have made the news. I'm really glad you steered away from Mesa because I absolutely could not stand flying with someone so judgmental and a bore. This industry use to be so fun until you nerds came in and took the life and the fun out of this business. I'm not saying fly drunk or drink and drive, be responsible and loosen up a little. Have some fun, thats what the Airline business use to be about.

Did I ever say sub standard pilots? No, I didn't. They're hiring guys that have made sub standard decisions ie 2 DUI's

If I were a SkyWest employee I'm not too sure I'd be throwing rocks in the "bad decisions" glass house considering the fairly recent and very well publicized events of last July. I don't think ANY US regional has had an incident that approaches the severity of those events.

Murder suspect and SkyWest pilot kills self after trying to steal CRJ at St. George airport.

faith and credit from myself. Great post.

However It was never fun... I pretty much hit the industry in the same circumstances. However I hit when every judgmental and entitled tool in the shed crashed the party. It was never fun. Never. 3 sheets to the wind in Cedar rapids Iowa with some random hodge podge of crew will always be subpar to what I've known as fun. That doesn't mean i cannot enjoy myself. Autopilot on....

Make sure everyone shows your support for PSA pilots in their upcoming vote on their concessionary contract. The TA bullet points are posted at www.stopthewhipsaw.com

They need to know this is not the time to lower the bar in this industry. We are not interns.

Pinnacle holds that title these days. Mesa ALPA doesn't do concessions (other than PBS) - they just don't seem to get many gains.

Your site has some great info. Thanks for posting the PSA offer sheet. That video of the US Airways manager explaining how they will whipsaw the Eagle, PSA and Piedmont pilots with promises of jobs at mainline is a great catch. Eagle stood strong. Will PSA?

Mesa can't do concessions. How can the pay get any worse? Especially for FO pay. Captains have it pretty good, not great. But FO pay sucks. We have 8 year FO's making the same top of the pay scale for the last three years, just like Republic. It's bull. McDonald's workers will make more soon. And they should make more, and hell yes, a person operating a 79 seat jet aircraft should be paid for the job he does.
