How could Mesa afford new planes? That $30m credit card we just announced doesn't seem like the best way to finance a number of aircraft, nor is it enough.

And to everyone who jumped all over me for saying AE's 700's went to PSA....
I was never implying or did I think we were getting those aircraft, these would be separate Mesa owned aircraft.

Um, you understand when you go to a bank for a loan with 30 mil in cash they will give you 300-400 million right?

Mesa doesn't have $30 million cash. Or at least they didn't a few months ago.

That's not cash. It's a draw loan. Hence my previous reference to it as a "credit card". You're right, if they had $30m cash to spare, it'd be easy to finance a few aircraft. From the little I saw, though, Mesa wasn't in a particularly strong financial position.

You guys need to look up "Working Capital" and see what you use it for and why you take a loan out for it.

You use it for for short term operational needs and liabilities (wages payable, accounts payable) when you don't have enough readily liquid assets (no cash, but accounts receivable) to cover obligations.
You don't purchase long term assets with a working capital loan.
