I bet a large percentage of senior FOs at Endeavor/Republic/XJet will submit apps to be street CAs at Mesa the second it's announced. ESPECIALLY Endeavor--I mean, they're downgrading Captains and their FO payscale is capped at 4 years--why would anyone sit around in the right seat on 4th year FO pay indefinitely, when they could move left seat at Mesa and start making more money and accruing turbine PIC immediately?

I mean--4th year FO pay in JFK/DTW indefinitely, versus CA pay at Mesa in places that are not JFK/DTW. Is there even a question for any of those guys (except for the ones who live in base?)

So I have a class date starting in November on the CRJ side. Is there anything I need to be studying now or do I come with a smile on my face and an open mind?

There are general materials available online, however every company makes up their own aircraft limitations. In my opinion, It would be a detriment to your training to have to relearn the same things with different numbers in class. Just be sure you know how to read plates and brief/fly approaches without any hiccups. Some people that didn't fly ifr much ran into brick walls, because it's enough to be learning a new (and in most cases more complicated) airplane without turning it into a basic instrument lesson.

They provide you with all the info/materials you need. You will have every opportunity to be successful if you have a good attitude and put in the effort.

I agree with everything he wrote.
Just wanna add a few more things. The training department is very good at Mesa. They will provide you everything you'll need for Indoc and systems. No need to preview much before you get there.
However, they do expect you to be not only instrument current but instrument proficient. Know your jeppesen plates. When you receive the profiles and call outs study a lot with your sim partner. If you have those memorized it'll be easier for you in the sim.
Never let up when you're in training. You can't afford to take a day off. Everyone I've spoken with who has recently gone through have said similar things. And, they've all had a good experience.

Some people will say to throw a ball with your partner while practicing callouts. My partner didn't study, so I asked around if i could observe sim sessions and brought my profile packet with me. If you sit in the back seat and follow along, you'll have a better opportunity to correlate callouts with events in the cockpit and why you make certain calls at certain times. Once you can make the calls in your head as or before they're said around, you'll know that you're ready.

As far as the profiles themselves, do yourself a favor and simplify the packet. There's 4 or 5 takeoff profiles and the same number of arrivals etc.. Most of them are the same except for a few changes. My suggestion is learn the normal takeoff-arrival-landing or "circle of life" and then learn whats different about the other similar profiles without making it a completely different procedure from beginning to end. I probably tossed 4 pages out, and only had a few highlights on some of the pages.

What flights did you get? The LAX-SJC and LAX-SFO turns got old pretty fast.

October new hire here... How can I get a copy of the current contract? I've got a fair amount of questions that can probably just be answered by reading that.
