Does anyone know why the disproportionate number of new hires to upgrades? I know the basic 2 to 1 rule for growth, but new hires of 50/month to 10-15/month upgrades means FO staffing is getting fat.

Just a guess, but maybe they're planning for a lot of growth and attrition as the majors hire so they want to stay ahead of things to avoid having to hire off the street Captains.

Aside from a couple outliers, captain seniority is around the mid 500s with 850 pilots. That makes us fat on captains, not FOs.

Global Seniority:
608 Junior CRJ Capt.
542 Junior EJET Capt.
--------------------------
935 Total on property

Typically designed to 60/40 for capt vs fo

Guess that 1 year upgrade you were bragging about is a little farther off than you thought.....

Where in the system are you flying? This 20 more 700's for DFW is a rampant rumor in the United ORD/IAD system.

New Standing Bid just came out. 14 FOs got assigned PHX. The most junior of those is a May 15th class hire. All new hires after that got assigned IAD.
