IAD is the best base if you live there. The worst if you commute. Dulles is going to go very senior when CLT closes. Most CLT people I have talked to said they are going to Dulles. Only a few are chasing the 79 seaters to DFW. Everyone seems to think the 79 seaters will be converted to 76 anyhow. DFW will be the jr base

Missed it by a month then! Because people will start moving from CLT to IAD in earnest next bid right? I thought Dallas was opening in November causing that.

Anything cheaper than $55 in Dulles? I'm also going to ask for sound advice about commuting in general. How to minimize nights where you pay for a hotel. How to live out of a 22" Luggageworks suitcase for one or two weeks at a time. How to save money. Etc. Any good advice thoroughly appreciated.

FO's are paid the same. Captains are paid 50 seat pay, and a differential for each hour they fly on a (60-76) or (>76) seat airplane. So captains that are now flying 79 seat 900s would take a hit.

Only flight attendants have been assigned Dfw so far. I've been told that the first pilot bid for Dfw (for nov flying) will be in mid oct, but who knows if it'll be tdy.

Why is IAD the best? Is it the schedules? I'm back and forth between PHX and IAD. Not a big fan of winter, but DC is cool and the schedules are nice. Expensive for some, but if you're single a $500 room can be found on Craigslist easily enough.

I can see why IAD is the worst for commuting. Take tonight for example: there are 6 RON aircraft all arriving after 840PM.

I have heard the United schedules are more productive and therefore more days off.

That said, I am not concerned about productivity, I just want to be as commutable as possible. Looks like it is going to be FedEx for me if I am IAD based...
