Is it worth living at home, since I'm close with my family and been away for so long, to give up a better contract for me?
Don't commute. Even with Mesa's contact your QOL will be far better living in base than it will be commuting across the country for a carrier with a better contract. I commuted at my previous airline and was miserable.

Overall Mesa really isn't a bad place to be right now - and I say that coming from a regional with "one of the best contracts in the industry". Like the previous post says, no 50 seaters to park, decent upgrade times, and short reserve times plus being able to live in base make Mesa a good option for you.

I had a good time during my time at Mesa. The few captains I flew with were pretty cool, one was former military. As far as the day to day stuff, its just like the other regionals. Their pay just really sucks, but not enough to justify commuting except to one of the few regionals that will pay 39 year two.

The last bid award had new hires going to both IAD and DFW, so you stand a good chance of getting it out of training. From what I've heard on the line DFW still isn't built up to want they want it to be.

Out of new hire class what are the current time frames for sitting reserve and also upgrade potential, concerning the 900 and if someone has the 1000hrs. 121 time.

Thx

It's hard to say everyone from when I got hired is hitting their 1000 end of summer. I don't think we'll be see to many more under a year upgrades for a while.

I'm holding out until I get some winter experience. PHX was nice last winter but I never landed in snow and only deiced once all season.

Yep, get all the DSM/DEN/YEG flights possible (or whatever northern destinations are available then). That's my plan too.
