Go back and read my post again. I said industry average. It would be one thing to demand outrageous, unprecedented pay rates at the regional level, or to demand firm raises when the whole industry is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. But neither of those is going on right now. Mainline is posting healthy profits and other regionals have figured out how to pay better than Mesa and still successfully do business.

I'm not anti-union and I don't want the company to fail, but at the same time this is a free market economy. If we price ourselves out of existence by voting in industry average pay rates, then that speaks volumes of the business model here at MAG. And IMO if that puts the company under then they shouldn't be doing business. This is basic economics at work.

There's nothing unprofessional about demanding a respectable wage with the current labor and economical situations. In fact that would be the professional thing to do if you value skill and competency.

It's easy to say to not accept the pay. It's entirely a different matter when your there already and established. Only a fool would cause the demise of his current job without another job lined up.
With that said, a lateral move to Envoy is starting to look like a really good idea. That guaranteed flow is the only way that many of us will get to a legacy. Also, health insurance for my entire family at a tiny fraction of the cost of what Mesa charges is a game changer for those with families. If you want change, well...

That'd be pretty ironic if Mesa guys started jumping ship to envoy. Plenty of former eagle guys on our seniority list who played the lateral move game already, hoping this is their last one. I don't see that happening though.

I can no longer take you seriously. Why would anyone want to jump ship to an operation that is SHRINKING. All for a "guaranteed flow" of at least a 20 year wait. And that's if the company is still even around at that point.

FYI- a Envoy actually conducts this crazy thing called an "interview".

You do realize that this "interview" you speak of involves nothing more than showing up and shaking hands with a recruiter, right? Any regional will hire absolutely anybody with 1500 hours and a pulse right now. Interviews at the regional level are merely a formality at this point. Mesa interviews over the phone, others fly people in to "interview". The end result is the same...everyone receives a conditional job offer on the spot.

I have three friends that left for both mesa and republic over the last year. They had all been at envoy for less than 2 years. They all had the same story...envoy won't be here in a year from now and I will upgrade in a year at Mesa and I can fly a nice new 175 at republic. They all missed their bonuses in January and they all still hate where they are now just like they did before at envoy. Ironically, all three are seriously considering reapplying at envoy and wish they never would have left. I wish them the best!
