You do realize that a certain tall, outspoken captain with an impossible to spell last name is going to report you to the Chief pilot for posting insider information on a public forum.

My Question is, how much is 1 - 2% in profit from the flights? This sounds like little money, but I'm sure it's a large amount that could and should be distributed to is employees.

Management and our beloved Union make it sound like it's like nothing, on purpose ...

Skywest reported 10 million net income from 100 million earnings (EBITDA) first quarter of 2015. That's 10%.

SkyWest, Inc.

I'm pretty sure that Skywest pilots stay consistently in better hotels, have higher pay rates (33% 2nd year), higher per diem, plus lots of soft pay ...

New pay package ratified and in effect 2/1/14, agreement for 1 year.
Block Hour Override eliminated, now paid specific rate for each aircraft type.
On CRJ fleet, all soft time (vacation, sick, deadhead, min day credit, training, etc) are paid at CBR (CRJ Base Rate, aka. CRJ 200)
Min. Daily Guarantee now: 4:00
Company will pay $70 toward each required medical.
Uniform allotment now $200/yr
Company retains right to raise 1st year F.O. pay to $24/hr at any time.
This page last updated: June 15, 2015 (Pilots, Pay Notes)

Another ridiculous thing is that Mesa now requires a new hire to purchase (not by choice anymore) their own iPad with mounts. That's about $600.00 initial expense to the pilot. There are around 1'200 pilots (?) on property now, so we are talking about $720'000.00 which Mesa should have paid for. And that's only the initial purchase price, and not upkeep to original specification.

Now you guys tell me HOW Skywest can have higher profit margins with higher operating costs, and Mesa can't with lower operating costs?

They (Mesa) bid the flying at an insanely low price. Minimal profits mean their cost structure needs to stay at least remotely similar.

Between this and the obnoxious direct messages you have sent me, why do you have some sort of unhealthy obsession with Marcin?

Re dfw delays

I recently had 3 days in a row where I operated the same flight to XNA. How is it that I could do :23/:25/(where both days we were super late) turns, and the last day we had a normal turn and pushed :10 early, but yet in DFW consider a good turn at :60! This last week I had a plane on the ground in dfw for 1:56 and couldn't get gas.

Now yes, we have some serious problems with mx and I'm not going to sugar coat it. A HUGE chunk of our experienced mx staff quit with the closure of CLT, and that is not helping at all. I also find our 3 day checks are being completed in base prior to the plane going out on its last overnight. That tells me we can't route our planes efficiently through the mx bases we have. I'm not sure if that's a function of AMR scheduling/routing, or Mesa....I'm guessing a little of both.

Also one more observation. So Quite a few flights operated by Mesa were previously done by md80's. Where did those planes park? A/C/D, right? Now they are trying to squeeze us in with all of the other regional flights all on top of terminal B construction. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there's going to be gate issues/delays caused by this. I'm not trying to be a Mesa cheerleader, but please consider the serious uphill battle they are being presented. The PHX and CLT operations weren't that bad.

Let's assume they bring in half of what SKW does. According to a previous poster they make $100M each quarter. So I'm supposed to believe Mesa's quarterly profit is only $500k? Their annual profit is $2M? Their monthly profit less than $200k? Either JO is a terrible businessman or he's lying and hiding that money elsewhere.
