Default When do Mesa E175 classes start for new hires

Any word on when or if new hires will be hired on to the E175 at Mesa? Realistically is the upgrade going to be sub 2 years? Was talking to a CFI this morning at my local FBO who was saying he had a class date for the E175 with Mesa and that he'd be upgrading in 18 months...the guy was a bit full of it and only had a restricted ATP.

They going to upgrade him straight to the captain seat! Upgrade times are one of the most unpredictable factors in our field....

Oh believe me, I told him there are no guarantees in this game, but he insisted he was guaranteed the E175 and an upgrade in 18 months. Sad thing is I was trying to tell him the value of a good contract, but he just had his SJS glasses on.

Surely Mesa aren't hiring on to the E175 though? They don't receive them for at least another 6 months, right?

Well once the predicted "600" new hires next year get on. Then 400 of them quit due to being displaced to Hawaii. Then the rest bailing for other regionals realizing the pay difference and current upgrade time is 11+ years...

About a 7 year upgrade.

400 displaced to Hawaii? Try two or three tops per class and possibly none anymore as they're getting guys who want to be there. Upgrades will drop to 12-18 months for how long I don't know . Haven't heard about hiring into the EJET yet. Don't think that's true.

He won't even have the time requirements to upgrade to Captain as under the new rules, you need 1,000 hours SIC (or 1,000 PIC 135) in order to serve as PIC in 121.

No E-Jet new hires until next year. The airframes wont be on property until march. If I was to venture a guess I would say January or February. That being said, don't go somewhere because they fly a certain type of airplane. Go somewhere that works for you and your lifestyle.

Shiney jet syndrome everywhere! Must. Fly. E jet.

I'm pretty sure those pilots get boners while taxiing their heavy past other regionals.
