Dude, get real. The interview is not the main method of screening pilots, the checkride is. This is true at every airline.

You do realize that everyone goes through training like at any other company, right? People do fail, it's not a free pass into the seat. Plus look at foreign carriers hiring "cruise FO's" with way less time. Are you up in arms about that? I think that's a legitimate safety issue. Not so much taking a gamble on who may or may not pass. If you considered this "shotgun" approach to hiring bad business, fine. But it's not like people are making it to the line that don't know how to fly.

Of course safety matters. If there's no lapse in safety, then what are you all blabbering on about? If our flights safely arrive and depart on time, then who cares if the recruiting dept. calls a few duds that get filtered out in training?

If you want to complain about mesa, I'll join the circle; but the lines of "ual is pulling the 175s" and "phone interviews will end the world" just aren't getting you lot anywhere.

Interviews are also designed to filter out weirdos too. Even if they can fly.
