That TA pay calculator is online. The numbers are just as underwhelming as when we calculated them ourselves.

And remember. You should not calculate or use your per diem as a wage for working or as income. That is total BS on the unions part to even calculate that into your increase in "pay". The national average is $1.91. Here is the definition if they've forgotten.
Per diem: a daily allowance, usually for living expenses while traveling in connection with one's work or being employed at a distance from one's home.

Forgive me if this has been asked: Has a date been set to vote on the TA?

No worries sulk, it's set for September 21 to October 2 on the ALPA website.

Good point. Where did you find the $1.91 stat? Or is that the airline average?

If a guy flies out of Dulles, the job isn't any different than if he flies out of Texas or Arizona.

The pilot shortage alone will give all regional pilots substantially more leverage in the next few years. Look at the fundamental difference in management philosophy between Mesa and SkyWest. JO kept first year FO rates right where they were. SkyWest put the bulk of their new contract in first year rates, even adding a clause allowing management to increase it to $36.50 if they had trouble recruiting. What a contrast. SkyWest understands they'll have difficulty recruiting over the next couple years and the pilots will gain significantly more leverage. JO has been insulated from that thought process because he's been able to fill classes. What happens when he can't?

One other idea: regional unions shouldn't publicize how low their pay rates are relative to Horizon or SkyWest during negotiations. We should advertise to the public and Congress that we make 20-30% as much as the same position at United/Delta/American.
What? JO is still able to fill classes these days? His quick upgrade carrot is still working? What is the size of your classes these day? I don't see a quick upgrade for people joining now unless you guys have more flying on the way.

The $1.91 figure comes from the federal employee pay I believe.
https://www.federalpay.org/perdiem/2015 $46 is the general amount nonspecific to zip code. $46/24=1.91

Note that for FY16 (starting Oct 1st) the standard rate is $51 a day, or $2.13 an hour.
FY 2016 Per Diem Highlights

We aren't federal employees of course, but we are getting 25% less than what the government decided a fair per diem amount is.

Someone needs to take that MAG ALPA pay calculator and compare our TA to other regionals. I bet even more people would bail when they see the monetary difference. Especially ones who won't upgrade anytime soon, which is most FOs on property now.

It's got to be drying up, when I look at pics of the new hires most of them have grey hair. Compass' newest class small but all 20 somethings.

Don't worry, Envoy ground gets better in waves, and falls apart in waves. Just wait until it starts to get cold and the shine wears off of all those orange vest's.

Side note, I noticed since you guys started doing DFW-PHX, the performance has been better. Are they using this route to do mx swaps on the aircraft? Any word on progress of a mx base at DFW?
