Even that training pay is low. I made about $3000 - $3500 /month training pay at PSA. I don't know how you guys/gals are surviving on that first year pay. And I thought I had it bad.

Most guys coming through class right now are using Mesa as a second career. So most of them have savings from previous lives. The young CFIs and 135 folks are the ones who are truly live hand to mouth. Pretty shameful when you have to live off of food stamps as a pilot of a multi million dollar jet with AA or UAL livery on the side of the plane.

How realistic is a quick upgrade if you have previous 121 time? I have 2000 hours part 121 SIC.

How come no one has mentioned that the pilot group puts together a picket? I'm not saying a strike just to be clear. Why doesn't the group put on an informational picket outside The Crystal Palce and or ALPA PHX HQ? If you guys are serious about getting a new contract it's time you start doing something about it. Get social media, news and tv involved in the struggle. Until then you forum posters have no credibility and you're b*tching about the contract adds no valuable effort!

Figure taxes and deductions will leave you a net of around 63% (varies by person, I am referring to a family here).
That will net about $1998 the first month, then $500 less the second month, then $1000 less the third or fourth month. Expect your paycheck on the 1st to be about $531 once you're on reserve, and the 16th may be a few $$ more.

Let's say a person starts ground school April 4th by May 16th (payday) a person would bank 2,379 (based on my take home pay after taxes) so 6 weeks of training would be 1 month of pay (iPad allowance included with 250 a week of per diem) you would be looking at 2,379 at Mesa if all things considered stayed the same when I started. But for me I'm a zero on my tax forms no dependents and single so I have probably the most tax taken out but that depends on your situation. I lose around 200 easily a paycheck to taxes
So that's a glimpse of what it really is like that 2379 in training was No health insurance or uniform deductions or anything hope that helps
