Well, maybe SkyWest or Envoy gobbles us up. No downgrades but perma-reserve for our junior Captains. People like to bad mouth the merger fund, but I think that was a proactive move by the union. Small price to pay for some peace of mind.

Still no ALPA or company conference call in months. What gives?

Skywest has to finish taking out ExpressJet before they can acquire us. Envoy can't buy us because of all the UA business we do.

Makes you wonder how other regionals are doing when it comes to recruiting. You hear SkyWest and one or two others doing okay, but just okay. Employees of the wholly owned's don't have much faith in their ability to attract talent going forward, and the airlines with lowest compensation or highest upgrade time seem primed to struggle most.

I guess I'm wondering if Mesa is one of the first dominoes or on par with most of the regional industry. It'll be interesting to see. The retirements haven't even started yet.

It might take Mesa downsizing. Less engine overhauls to pay for, and less pilots to pay more. Of course, that means less revenue down the road and totally kills the slow-growth model the company's been after.
I would say much better than OK. We are losing 40 to 60 a month yet the list still grows by 20 to 30 every month.

ALPA conference calls are all about who's in charge at the moment and having information to give. Company calls have always been sporadic and timed with feel good info for Jonathan.

Skype interviews, good thing they weren't doing that when I got hired, else I'd be working at Walmart.

Well pallets of material have been showing up in IAH for conformity on the next two ERJs. I imagine they will be getting here soon.

At this point, we are playing too nice with the company. They aren't negotiating in good faith, and are upping the bonus they give to new hires while they turn their head to the flight crews. I would like to see us petition to leave Alpa and bring in Teamsters.

1. Just because you haven't gotten 100% of what you want doesn't mean you can claim lack of faith negotiating.

2. Talk to anyone with teamsters before you go off thinking they're better.

He said they had not yet. JO said that growth and not pay was their focus. Mark my words, the company will not break much on pay at all, which is ridiculous. I don't know what managements issue is with paying at least industry average or better yet at livable wage, but they seem dead set on increasing their profit margins by keeping employee wages low. I am not familiar with the contracts that Mesa makes with mainline but my understanding is that we are in fact not much less expensive than our competitors. So where is the money going?
Does the pilot group have professional negotiators or do they only have a line pilot background?
