Because people are not bidding it. Tdy can be junior assigned.

No one want to live there, the flying sucks. And no as long as the flying gets covered which it usually does

The flying doesn’t suck. The United operation isn’t the **** show that American is. It is a difficult commute with expensive hotels and numerous day trips making it a nightmare for commuters and reserves.

3-5 1hr flights everywhere does suck. Our destinations are arguably cooler but the overnights barely pass 12hrs. Hotels are in industrial parks near the airport in most our overnights to get downtown you’re looking at over a $50 ride share bill. On the other hand on the AA side you fly a significant portion of the country. Longer overnights and better hotels. But true we put money down we have a tenth of the cancellation/delays they do.

Would this be decent for someone that actually lives in the area? An hour drive gets me to IAD, so how would that impact QOL?

You would love it. But we are mushrooms in the dark being fed bull****. United has said they are replacing their 700 fleet with E170. ALL of the Mesa CRJ 700 expire Dec 31. We are flying them month to month while United does their contract negotiations - involving scope. Fact is the 170s Do not physically fit at the Gates we use in IAD. Something will give but my personal expectation is that we will either lose IAD entirely or it’ll be an ejet base. The thing is NOBODY KNOWS. Not even Mesa management. I see them making contingency plans. Like not basing FA here but instead dead heading them in from other bases. Goes the same for pilots. Getting all the IAD FA qualified on the Ejet. I don’t think the company is intentional in their lack of communication. I think they just don’t know. So would you be wise to get on the crj in iad? Sure. Seniority is everything. How long will it last? No one knows.

Mesa E-175s do park on gates from C20-D24 even. They have been doing that for a while now. D26-D32 Have turned into a CRJ-700 parking zone (I think they can hold 8 of them at a time). As for the contract expiring on December 2019.
Do you have a confirmed source that UAL is going to get rid of the CRJ700s?
I know the contract expires.

No one knows what UA will do. Possibly not even UA. UA has in fact ordered more 175s to be delivered in April, these planes have not been awarded to a regional yet. Which would put them over scope, therefore some 70 seaters need to come off line to make room.

Do you happen to know how many 175s they have on order?
