Hate - pay and whipsaw.

Short reserve time in IAH? It's relative. Relative to what it was 2 years ago - zero - it's long now. 5-6 months though I expect it to come down. Want to fly immediately and a lot? Go CRJ.

Hello all. I’ll be straight upfront, failed my check ride at my previous121. Started a thread “Options”, new to the forums. As I commuted to and from training I flew on a bunch of Mesa flights and crews seemed very happy. When I got the chance to talk with a few of the Pilots never heard a complaint, wish I had done more research on Mesa. Any way, was wondering if any one would be good enough to share training experiences, the good, the bad, how is systems or ground, do you get extra sims if needed(I had to repeat1), are instructors helpful, their experiences after training and if Mesa would even consider me? Would hope to be based in IAD if even considered. Look forward to the feedback and thank you.

The worst part of training is the scheduling; you will never know your entire schedule at once, at best, a few days before one training event ends, the schedules for the next event will be handed out. At worst, the current training event will end and you'll be left twisting in the wind waiting for the e-mail to come back to class. I waited 3+ months after FPT to go to SIMs, but that was 2 years ago and it has gotten better since then.

As for IAD, they're about to start transitioning from CRJs to EJets, so if you want to be based there you should definitely try to get into the EJet, even if it means being based in IAH for awhile until the new jets come on line in IAD.

Appreciate the response. How would you rate the training overall? Do Instructors seem to have your success in mind or is it a “push them through to get them to the line” mentality? I needed 1 repeat sim at my last regional, is that something Mesa allows or if you don’t pass a sim you’re out? Only reason I’m asking is because this would be my second attempt/last attempt at an airline career having failed a 121 Check. I know places need to be strict when it comes to repeat but I know some places are more generous than others. Also, Mesa is AQP for initial training correct? Thanks again for the help.

Mesa is not AQP for initial.

You get 3 strikes then a training review board determines your future.

That can be 3 sim failures. 1 sim and 2 check rides etc.

Ejet training is great. Good bunch of people.

Apply and see. Also suggest Ejet in IAH. IAD Ejet base is coming.

Who’s ready to pay out of pocket for new uniforms? Looks like we are moving to black uniforms now.
