If you're listed as an overage for your AFSC and year group on the matrix I think you can get out with an ADSC waiver, otherwise you're waiting till your ADSC is up.

That's right...you get out using either VSP or the ADSC. VSP pays you to get out and ADSC just lets you get rid of your commitment and not get paid....or you can always go into the Army (blue-to-green)

Default FY08 and 8-year retirement waiver

New guy, but have read every post here:

AFPC force shaping office should release message next week as it's still awaiting SECAF signature. Inside scoop on something that affects a few of us is the 8-year waiver for commissioned time for prior-enlisted officers. It will be available but not to the following: 11B, 11H (all shreds), 11M, 11R, 11S, 12B, 12M, 12R, 12S, 13B, 13D, 13M, 14N, 16F, 16P, 21R, 31P, 32E, 51J, 64P, 71S, BSC, MC, DC, and NC are not eligible to apply for this program. Officers currently enrolled in Developmental Education (DE) or an Air Force-sponsored advanced academic degree program are not eligible for this program.

Yes! I get to retire finally!!!

Two weeks ago they said 2200 people..now they say 4000 on af times.

Default FY08 inside scoops

Wicked,

Unfortunately, that's the end of my gouge. I was selfish in that I asked about what specifically applied to me and my answer came VFR-direct from the FS office. I wish you all the best of luck in your search for more info and career happiness.

Not too much info from the AF Enquirer article:

Force-shaping update could come Wednesday

By Bruce Rolfsen - Staff writer
Posted : Thursday Aug 16, 2007 12:50:16 EDT

The Air Force could announce its next set of officer and enlisted manpower Wednesday, but that target day could change.
Air Force officials have estimated about 4,000 full-time positions will need to be cut in 2008 through attrition, voluntary separations and showing airmen the door.
The force-shaping measures for 2007 are in their final stages. In July, the service chose about 300 captains and majors for involuntary separation this year.
The Air Force expects to end fiscal 2007 with about 334,000 active-duty airmen, 12,000 fewer positions than the service started the year with. By the end of 2009, the Air Force’s stated goal is to have the active-duty down to 316,000 positions.
While Air Force leaders and some lawmakers have said the Air Force will need more airmen to support the growing Army and Marine Corps, no one has offered firm numbers on how many positions the Air Force will need or how to pay for them.
The only airmen Congress has moved to protect from cuts in 2008 are about 800 medical positions, mostly filled by enlisted airmen.

Actually, in a way, you told us lots of information. If guys in your situation and those listed AFSC's are not allowed to take advantage of that seperation program, then its painfully obvious those same AFSC's will be under the same restrictions for the other seperation programs. Bottom line: I am not holding my breathe.

I just wanted to add a little something in case they are offering money to get out. A lot of my buddies who got out under VSP also accepted full-time AGR positions hoping to get the money and a full time Guard job. The final ruling was that if you take the VSP money and get an AGR job, you have to pay it back. If you take a full time Technician job in the Guard, you don't have to pay the money back. It took a lot of time and pain to figure that one out.
