In fact, they originally planned on 309k by FY13, but that will most likely change by a few thousand due to the Army and Marines plus up.
Be interesting to see what happens with the 09 board.

Of course, by FY09, there will be something else going on, and then the powers that be will come to some sudden realization that they cut too deep and will implement a stop loss... Just the Cynic in me. I figure I'm also one of those guys with the CRAP luck for timing, so since I am due to retire in 09, I'll be told that I can't. Just mark my words. :P

I just would like to know what the plan is, I always thought the military was supposed to have job security, and here I am at 27 and possibly about to start over.

Yeah, I honstly (in my opinion) think that AFPC hasn't a clue what they are really doing, and just screwing people left and right to meet some briefing whim that has no connection to reality. But like I said, I'm a cynic at this point...

I'm starting to be...case in point, good buddy...security forces Captain, gets forceshaped. Joins the reserves via an IMA billet, gets Per diem..and BAH since the home location is different. So they forceshaped a Captain, and are now paying him 1.5 times his salary as a reservist on AD status..just about 6 figures. Where's the sense in that?

I've made the afpc page with the force shaping message my home page...

I would think a force shaping Palace Chase would be more likely to be approved than the regular one...I was surprised to read the earlier post stating otherwise.

Talked to AFPC. Does not sound good at all for rated guys to get out in FY08. They are taking a breather on the Force Shaping after this year's massive effort. As the webpage says, the programs will be out on the 15th. Applications for the lucky few will be accepted on 5 Sept. at 1200 CST. Main year groups will be more than 12 years service and 2005. They said something about 2000 being offered LADSC or something to that affect. Again, though, did not sound like rated will have much early seperation opportunity (not even Palace Chase).

As I suspected, they are using FY08 as a light Force Shaping year to take a breather and reassess AFSC needs. FY09 will be another heavy year of Force Shaping (that's the plan at least). But as we all know, a year in the Air Force is a VERY long time for policy to change.

And I'm done.

What I fail to understand is that my career field and year group is drastically undermanned in reality, but on paper we are listed as one of the higher overages. If they cut us down to what the matrix says should be ideal by end of FY09, I don't see how we could even function. I hope they re-evaluate their numbers.

Space/Missiles 2002 (13S)

I guess the only consolation is if they decide to cut what we're thinking in FY09, at least I'd be at the 6-7yr point and would get some money *shrugs*
Where are ya based?

You mentioned being an 11R, AFPC keeps calling that a navigator when talking about forceshaping, but I think it's a recce pilot, what do you fly?
