The SOI received by me was on 16 July. Flight records received my Aeronautical Order on 29 September. It was dated 24 September by the air staff. It appears that it takes six to eight weeks as a general rule. It is better in some ways to have a non-flying assignment as aeronautical orders can be issued by the air staff while you are waiting at your assignment base. (I got my EAD orders on 31 July from AFPC.) That was my case.

No. Mine were still in work when got EAD orders and even when I arrived on station. I had about a 3 week stop at my PCS base before going TDY to flying training and the OSS had to work the AO during that time. BTW, it took the entire 3 weeks to get it done (about 6 weeks from the time I sent the info requested for revalidation).

Retired pay/Active Duty pay issues
Break, break: When flight records receives the Aeronautical Order they need to send a copy of the AO along with a DD Form 114 so that finance can ensure your flight pay is received. This is supposed to happen automatically, but don't count on it. Without the DD Form 114, nothing happens.

Mine said: "You will be ordered to EAD contingent on our receipt of your SOI and your aeronautical orders being revalidated. Should your AO not be revalidated, this specific offer is void, and you will be contacted about other possible assignemnt opportunities."
I got this email message after sending my AO revalidation package in:
"We have received your email w/ the required documents IAW AFI 11-402, attachment 6. We have initiated processing your package for revalidation. Thanks...."
I think they took a quick look at my AO revalidation package and gave the go-ahead to AFPC since my timeline was short to make the training date on the offer.

Other pay stuff to watch out for: Retired guys coming back, you should get pay for uniforms like when you first joined the AF ($400). Also watch out for some reason they started taking money out for Montgy. GI Bill. If this happens go by the Education Office they can help, they said this is a common problem. They will stop it and then you need to work with finance to get paid back. Next is dental, you will need to set this up all over again along with re-enroll your dependants in Tri-Care. Good Luck and watch your pay.

All depolyments and remotes seem to stem from the short tour and long tour return dates. When this process started I remember the "dates will be adjusted" for your civilian time for guys who have not been active duty to prevent our names all being at the top. Any word on this? I think Title 10 talks about this date being the date you enter EAD? Does this reset to 2009?

I don't thinks so. Short tour return date has nothing to do with deployments, only 365s and short tours. Which is why AFPC offers protection from 365s and short tours under this program. There really is no protection from deployments (179 and less) for anyone, including returnees in this program.
