You are right about AFPC and the process, it is all a bit nebulous. I am glad that there is a forum like this to discuss issues. I am in the app process, completed my medical and waiting for the endorsement letter process to flow through AFRC. I am interested in UAVs and AOC's, whichever will give me max time - I have exactly 14 years of active service and am hoping to get to the 18 year point and sanctuary. Anybody at UAV training at Beale or working at the AOC at Ramstein now? Those are at the top of my list right now.

I am on my way to the AOC (603d) at Ramstein right now. I just finished the AOC IQT at Hurlburt and arrive in Germany next week. It has been a challenging process, but hopefully some of the issues they had with getting me through the process will flow a little smoother for those to follow. The 603d Director of Staff told me that there were several other folks following me in the near future, so Ramstein is a popular choice. If you're going to get into the hunt, you'd better do it before all of the Ramstein slots are full.

Safe travel to you and your family. Right on the mark about blazen the path first. It took my MPF 2 weeks to get me back into the system along with several other little things. Same advice I give other folks who have shown some intrest in the program. Apply now to get into the system. We have all seen how long it takes for AFPC to get folks back on active duty. Good Luck and welcome back. For all others don't rely on the "60 day" goal by AFPC it took me 5 months from app to active duty and I didn't need to move or go to any formal training so hang in there guys and don't pull all your hair out.

Gents,

Can someone post a good phone number to verify that my application fax was received? I'm planning on sending off the package on Monday. Thanks for sparing me from searching through 49 pages!!

Congrats to all of you that made it through the process.

You can contact AFPC customer service at 800-525-0102 and use options #1 and #4. This always gets me to a live person, but they can't do anything but look in the computer and check your status. When they answer they will want your SN# and when you give it to them make sure you tell them you are a Rated Recall Applicant, otherwise they won't find you in the computer because they will be expecting you to be on active duty. Make sure you tell them you want them to just check your status in the computer, otherwise they will try to transfer you to Recall Ops which is the number that no one ever answers. Good Luck!

Thanks guys. I appreciate the numbers and those little pieces of information that really make it easier (like telling the person on the phone you are in the limited recall program).

This has been a very helpful thread. I have a question. I have 5300 points, 23 years of service, and I'm a Lt Col. A four year contract will get me past the 18 year point for sanctuary. However, it will not get me 20 good years and I will reach mandatory retirement at the 28 year point before I reach 20 years of service. So what "should" happen in this case if I get a four year contract? Will I not be able to immediatley begin receiving retired pay after separation in my case?

Thanks in advance.

Just trying to do my part to give back. Like many other posters, this forum has been a real valuable source of information and its nice to know there are others experiencing the same things I am. When someone reports back that they got their assignment or their orders then at least you know the process is still working ... albeit slowly.
