I've turned my RRORP package in June 26th. Thought I was completely unloved by AFPC until finding this forum. From what is posted here I may be opening my Christmas present before hearing from my AO.

How does the AO contact us? Has everyone just get emails or do they call?

My contact has been only by email. He called me once but unfortunately I missed the call and haven't been able to re-connect by phone. E-mail seems to be what he prefers. I got two emails on Friday which ended with with "more to follow." My package was turned in on 1 May.

Wasn't it only authorized until the end of 2009? I'm going to call him tomorrow and see what kind of guarantee there is I could get a spot that far out. If not, maybe I could do a year in an AOC in the desert with a guarantee of a UAV on return? Anyone hear of anyone doing something similar or see any obvious flaws in my thinking?
Crewdog58-I'm a former tanker guy retired in 97. Where were the AOC staff jobs they offered located? If I can't fly location becomes much more important.

Used to be back in the olden days you had to be a fighter/bomber pilot or nav. And in the even older days it was just fighter pukes. Air Battle Managers are now eligible for an ALO slot also. My last assignment before I retired was an ALO slot. I have been out of the cockpit too long to go back to flying and actually loved being an ALO so asked for that on my wish list. I also knew there wouldn't be many other guys (if any) asking for that job

Small world ... I'm also a former tanker guy retired in 97. The only AOC mentioned to me specifically was the TACC, but I've heard of other guys getting Ramstein and Hickam. My first choice was a cockpit but I've been out of the cockpit too long for that so I'm trying for UAV's but the waiting list is into next summer for a school slot which my AO seems reluctant or unable to guarantee an assignment that far out. So I inquired if volunteering for a 365-day AOC remote tour to the desert would get me a guaranteed UAV assignment on return.

I was offered AOCs in Hickam, Ramstein, and Yokota.

Default No Formal Training for AMC Guys

In the ever changing world or this program..... Word from HQ AMC is they do not want to send you to formal school-house training. Therefore for the most part only those who can complete training at the unit level can expect to return to fly in AMC. I am sure there are a few exceptions. Just wanted to post what I have been hearing since I got back on active duty. I can accomplish all of my training at the unit level since I have only been out for a year.
As the AF takes closer look at this program more and more folks seem to add more restrictions. So those who are considering on waiting I would submit your apps sooner rather then later. Good Luck to all

Whhhhhoaaa, 48 pages; longest post ever IMO. Questions....

1) Is being out of a military cockpit for 8 years or longer a hard and fast rule as a disqualifier for getting a flying job (no UAVs please)?
2) Are AETC white jets and C-40/37/VIP jets deployable?

Thanks in advance.

You need to check out "Comair Updates" in the regional forum, and "Any Latest and Greatest about Delta" in the Major forum. Let me know when you get done reading them.

I have no idea about your questions. They sound like good ones to call AFPC with.
