REAL Pilot,
Actually the answer is "yes". You are on Extended Active Duty but you are still a reservist/guardsman. You were talking about a Reserve Retirement, which you will get at age 60 (earlier with some exceptions) if you have 20 good years. I think McBoeing thought you were talking about an active duty retirement which you get right away.
magicrat,
I was wondering the same thing myself. I have 16.5 years of active duty. I could take a year of orders next fiscal year bringing me to 17.5. Assuming I apply late in 2010, I could be up to 18 years by the time I would get an assignment. Then I could do a 2 year tour and retire immediately. I believe I have seen your name on the fedex thread, I work there too....
I have called and emailed their office this week and haven't got a response. Anyone else having the same problem?
Also, has anyone put in for AETC? I was thinking a short staff tour at Scott AFB (less than 3 years) or one T-1 tour (3 years after training). Thanks for the gouge.......

REAL,
I believe they are talking about the bonus, not monthly flight pay. I believe this is correct. If this is the case, I guess theyfigure you want to do this so you will sign up without the bonus.
Like someone else stated otherwise, if they can't fill enough slots, they may be inclined to sweeten the deal. Who knows?

Earlier in this thread I posted about my attempt to Cross into the Blue. I am a recent retiree from the USMC.
First, I applied to the USAF Retire Recall program and was told "No Thanks" - not accepting Retirees from other services.
Second, I applied to join the USAF Reserves as an IP in T-6's at Laughlin. I applied, then interviewed at the unit (96th FTS), and recieved an invitation to join the unit from the Commander. I have now been informed that I will be unable to join the USAF(R) due to USAF regulations. They can take Retired USAF into the reserves. They can also Intersevice Transfer someone who was Active Duty in another service (but not yet at 20 years AD) into the reserves. They can even Interservice Transfer someone from the Reserves in another service into the USAF(R), but cannot take a Retiree from another service into the USAF(R).
Everyone at the unit seemed to really be trying to make this happen for me and I can't thank them enough. I'm just frustrated that the system is not more flexible.

I understand your frustration. I have a friend who is a retired Navy helicopter pilot was a ton of staff experience. He would love to cross over but was also told no. USAF's loss. As a retiree happy to be headed back to the active side, I wish you luck and who knows, if they don't get the numbers they are seeking, they may open up the door to the other services.

Well you have to look at all the differences you would have to overcome. Your rank structure was all different, well wait no it wasn't. Well you saluted all different, well wait no you didn't. Well your aircraft flew differently, well wait no they didn't. Well your uniform was a different color, yup that's it, you could never adapt to the different uniform color, that's gotta be it
Ahhh, don't ya love a good bureaucratic red tape BS roadblock. Good luck to you and don't give up.

You can get an "active duty" retirement as long as you accumulate 7200 points. An active duty year is 360 points. 20 X 360 = 7200
Has anyone been having difficulty contacting Maj. Christopher Johnson either by email or by phone? I sent him an email almost 2 weeks ago and left 2 voicemail messages. He has not replied to either.
Is there someone else I should contact who can give me concrete answers about the LPRP? I called the toll free number. When I asked them a question, they gave me what I thought to be a wrong answer. When I referred them to the LPRP announcement, they changed their answer. I did not get a good feeling.
I also cannot find this "ANG LPRP Guidance Released - on 6 Mar 2009" document mentioned in the LPRP. Anyone know where I can find this?
I am currently a member of a ANG unit with a MSD (passed over for LTC) approaching at the end of the year.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry boofer, but the MSD that soon will make you ineligible for the LPRP. You are going to first have to contact the guard and attempt to get a waiver for your MSD. I heard some chatter about a recent program to do that in place, but I didn't look too deeply into it since it didn't apply to me.

Fred,
"THE PROVISIONS OF AFI 36-2008, PARA 8.1, WHICH PROHIBIT THE APPLICATION OF AN OFFICER WHO HAS BEEN SEPARATED FROM ACTIVE DUTY FOR NON-SELECTION FOR PROMOTION ARE WAIVED."
Now, it is kind of funky that this is in the LPRP announcement which deals with putting currently employed ARC officers on EAD. I asked the AFPC if I am eligible for the LPRP and at first they said, "No." But, when I directed them to this statement they changed their answer. There is also a statement in the announcement that people selected will not be eligible for promotion on the ADL. Yet, on the FAQ document regarding the LPRP, it says that people will not be eligible for promotion on the ADL but will be eligible for promotion with the Reserves.
I am awaiting a reply from the AFPC. I have given up on this Maj. Johnson.
