I agree...don't let a short term thing get in your way. I almost want to thank the military for helping me out of a couple of close calls. In retrospect none of them would've been a good thing. A good long deployment was always there to help me make a better decision. I wouldn't even think of going against your aspirations...especially early on...you might hate her for it later. The problem will then be that you can't do anything about it. There's plenty of "big haired" townies to ease the pain along the way. The training cycle would probably be much easier as a single person...then you get the full "experience." Good luck on your future.

Exactly right. I have a friend from college that passed on a guard opportunity to fly Vipers because his g/f didn't want him to. 6 years later he was divorced and completely regretted ever letting her have a say.

It sounds like you can have one of your options but not both. If she's aginst you going in the military I wouldn't attempt it with her-- she'd be miserable and she'd make sure you were also miserable.

You'll have to choose which is more important for your life. One, the other, but not both.

Here's a test to see which route you'd rather take:

If you meet someone for the first time and you both get around to showing wallet pictures of your family would you rather say

1. "This is a picture of my wife".

-or-

2. "This is a picture of my jet".

Good luck with your choice and have fun either way.

Cheers,

Thanks for the advice guys. I broke up with her early this morning and all is good and I think we are both happier and better off. Big sense of relief from a relationship with a lot of other problems and this pushed it over the edge for me. I'm can fly in the civilian world but not in the military world due to a mild color deficiency so...I'm joining the army reserves as an RN when I graduate college soon. I would love to fly in the military but I will have many great opportunities to serve my country as a nurse. I will be darn proud to wear the uniform.

Wow, that was fast. I like a man that can process options and make a decision. Very decisive. You sir, are a man of action. Sounds like you knew the answer before you started this thread. Also sounds like a good decision. Good luck!

Plenty of threads on here about color vision problems and work arounds that might be of some help to you. Try a search.
They told me the same thing

This guy might be better utilized in combat arms than the medical corps...
