I used HPA for my 737 Type using the MGIB. They were awesome in taking care of the administrative details, and the VA paid back the 60% within about a month of my training.

I'm also interested in how the new Post 9/11 GI Bill will work, but if anyone can make it work, it will be the HPA admin. Again, the HPA folks were excellent and prompt in caring for my VA paperwork.

Anyone used the Post 9/11 at HPA for the 737 Type yet?

Curious too - only avail since 1 Oct, so doubt there's lots of experience - still, anxious to hear what experience there is - good or bad!

I'm in class at HPA next month and trying to use post 9/11 GI. Applied to the VA for certificate of eligibility last week, hope to hear back soon. Active duty with 20 yrs retiring in a few. Transferred benefits to my kids so I'm curious to see what they "charge me" in terms of transfered eligibility months. Suppose it's "education hedging" since one can only assume VA $$$'s are a big bogey in the defense budget and may not last...

I'll post something once get the gouge.

Same as China, except not in a class yet. Soon as I get an answer from VA on how many months eligibility it'll cost me, I'll post it. HPA has been predicatably very helpful--fact of the matter is VA has yet to determine how many months it'll cost.

The ansewer I got from the VA is that there is a dollar amount to monthly benefit Conversion. Pretty much divide $10K by 12 months and you get a rough idea. They actually have it broken down to a daily amount but doing what I said will get you close ie. $10K = 1 year, 5k=6 months, 2500=3 months. There is a thread like this one over at JC that I posted the actual formula that they gave me if you want to get down into the weeds.

This is the way the old GI Bill worked.

Are you sure that was about post 9-11 and not Montgomery? The answer I've gotten everywhere I've asked has been "have yet to determine how it will be done with post 9-11."

Yes this was for 9/11. It was quoted for flight training in general not HPA. All the word came out last month. My post on JC is a cut and paste from the email the VA sent me.
