No word on class date. Rumor is Feb or later. Upgrade time 15+ years

I don't think that's accurate. There are plenty of people in the pool, just no idea if / when the next class dates will be. I was told 8-10 years for upgrade. Yeah, I know! Just relaying what I was told.

Untrue. The wait from interview to class date is a broken system, but filling classes was not a problem the last time we ran them.

Not what the hiring person told me directly. Unless you are the hiring person then you are wrong

There is more than one "hiring person" as you call it.

They can fill a class, but hiring would go against their plans to shrink more. But I think they are totally aware that the amount of interested pilots has dwindled over the last couple of years, which is why they made a pool and intend on keeping them in the pool for another 4 months. It’s a terribly dumb move on NJAs part but it’s the only game they can play right now.

When CBA15 was just a TA, it was patently obvious the ENTIRE focus was to reduce overall body count and I said so to anybody that would listen (not many, per usual). I predicted that we would fall to roughly 2400 pilots for about the same number of airframes (400-420). We are nearly there.

There will be trickles of hiring next year to cover attrition once the head count settles in at their "optimum" number. But NJ will be treading water for at least the next five years.

I saw it happen. I was a high 2800 number when I got hired, maybe even very low 2900, but when I left I was 2500 something and nobody has been hired since I left over 7 months ago.

We're now under 2480.

Look, the company would LOVE to impose an Age 65 mandatory retirement. That would drop ANOTHER 250ish pilots off the list. That means they want to KEEP SHRINKING THE PILOT ROSTER.

Substantial hiring is a pipe dream right now.
