I don't know much about this airline. I searched for information but found a lot of it to be older posts. Does anyone know anything about their current operation? Are they doing well as an airline? Are they expanding, getting new aircraft? Any information would be greatly appreciated. I want to apply but do not think giving up my seniority number would be the best thing to do.

I worked there when they had Be1900s. They are just becoming unionized which has been in the works for almost 2 years. Last I heard they were not expanding with the dash8. Its an ok company but the pay is low for the equipment. No APUs in the dash so its very hot in the summers and cold in the winters. Not really sure thier worth giving up a seniorty number for unless u live in CLE or EWR area and QOL would be better!

There are certainly things that could be better at Commutair including the pay. Negotiations have been under way for almost a year. Like anywhere else though it has its ups and downs. I dont hate my life for working here, much.
There are pretty strong rumors that we are opening up an IAH base in April 2010 and doubling the size of the company. We are not currently overstaffed but are hiring for a Jan class of 12 right now. Most folks are expecting a big announcement very soon.

These days at commutair you are a captain by your 3rd year. Easily making more than a 3rd year FO at most places. Upgrade times vary, but usually fall between 1.5 - 2 years. By Year 4 most are moving on to Majors. The way I look at it is over the long run you end up making more by moving up faster. It's also not such a big financial difference to go from really high CA pay to 1st year major pay. Of course the time to upgrade can always change, but the last class we had was here 2 years. The pay is low and being worked on, but In my view the long term deal you get here is no so bad. Now back to my Ramen..
