Best of luck to you in your young career, I'm sure you'll never have to face the realities of the industry that every one else is looking at now. Silver has a pretty good retirement program if I remember correctly.

you mean 7 months? Ya why not?? I definitely would not be the first silver pilot that is flying 100 hours a month. As for the rest of what you took the time to type? I hope you are enjoying yourself. At no point did i insinuate that I am impervious to the bad that many in this industry see daily. I actually commented to quite the opposite. People LIKE YOU are the ones bringing this industry down. Yes you. Pilots go home and when they walk in the door to see their family, the wife will say something like "How was your trip honey?" and the reply because of people like you goes something like this, "Horrible. I had to fly with that Douchebag captain/FO I told you about that everybody hates. I am so sick of his negativity and everyone else keeps calling in sick when they have trips with him just to avoid him." Ya dude. You are that guy. Congrats. When you got into this profession long ago was it, "I really wanna fly airplanes! I think it would be fun to fly every day!" or was it, "I am a miserable prick. might as well go fly for an airline and see how many other people I can make as miserable as me." Thanks for showing me exactly what I don't want to be. Feel free to prove my point by saying something else childish and petty so everyone here can see you attempt to compensate for being "that guy"

I also plan on working collectively to ensure that this industry remains as stable and profitable as possible for the common good."

Fixed.

Also, even for low-timers... there are good options out there. Chasing an upgrade is a tactical blunder in my opinion. There isn't a single airline in the United States that couldn't completely dissolve in 3 years, which is shorter than the upgrade time at most regionals. This career is luck and timing, and the only way to ensure the best possible outcome at any given time is to pick the best option for the present... not for 2-3-4 years down the road.

I'm not trying to start a "my regional is better than your regional" catastrophe, but I was hired with less than 1000/100... and second-year FO pay at my present employer is more than third-year 1900 Captain pay at Silver. As long as we continue to work for peanuts, they will continue to pay peanuts...

I come back to this thread pretty often to see if I can get some information about the pilot selection process at Silver Airways.
Sometimes I find good info, but I have to browse through a ton of hateful posts that don't provide any insight on the company.

"Haters gonna hate" for any reason, they will just do it, period.

Now back to the thread, does Silver Airways send any type of "Thanks, but no thanks" letter if you are not selected for any reason? How long does it take to get it if not selected?
Do they run the background check before they offer the job and assign a class date? (this would be a good reason why it takes longer for some people to hear back)

Thanks!

You don't know me and I very much doubt you would call me a prick if you did. You are a very angry individual... I wish you the best. Cheers.

Interesting how intensely you feel the need to defend yourself so aggressively. Says a lot about your personality. Grab a beer, get laid, and calm down.

Nobody cares about the peanuts, thats the problem... They might tell you they do when all they want is the four stripes and some authority. It will never change.

I think I've said it before, but I will reiterate for those who don't care to read through the previous posts. If you don't like Silver, and feel the need to bash those of us who came here to work (develop our careers), please do us all a favor and find something else to occupy your time so we don't waste our time by reading your useless posts with the same stuff that keeps getting repeated.

Thanks!

How long has it been since your interview? It took them 4.5 weeks to call me, and 3.5 to call one of my buddies. I think the current choke point in the timeline is the number of classes they can run. Apparently the currently only have one instructor that's qualified to teach initial. It sounds like they're pretty short on the line though, so once you show up they're really going to try and push you through.

Nothing against Silver, I even have a friend that just got hired there. However, my 2nd year FO pay at my current employer pays more than being on 3yr captain pay at Silver. It is just hard justifying going to place like that.

You want turbine PIC or all that money you make and SIC time, you pick what's more valuable to you. Besides you're comparing hourly pay rates it wouldn't shock me that most people bring in an additional $500 to almost 1k in incentive pay. No where does that reflect in our hourly pay scales you see on APC.
