My previous renewals have been on upgrading certificates (CFII and MEI) or merit (5 passes within the previous 24 calendar months with an 80% pass rate or greater). Another situation that I have is that I start class with Silver on July 9th. In which I will be engrossed in training for 6 weeks. At the end of those 6 weeks I will be moving, doing IOE, and sitting reserve (which from what I am hearing is not real reserve, but 80 or so block hours a month). I am thinking that it will be hard for me to do the renewal course within that time period considering that I will be busy.

Boo hoo. Suck it up and get it done or let it lapse.

+1. It really doesn't take that much of your attention anyway. Stop making excuses and use what most of us already consider the easiest (and cheapest) solution.

Ok. I guess I will just ask the POI at Silver so I can get the correct answer.

What are typical trips out of FLL like? Can you get many out and backs or do you guys spend many nights on the road? I was under the impression that most flights were out and backs. Can someone chime and describe what a typical schedule is like.

Thanks

From looking at the FLL lines for July it seems to be a pretty good mix. I wouldn't say mostly out and backs but there are a fair amount. Ranges from 1-5 day trips with 4-6 legs per day. Average line credit 80-85 hours with 12-18 days off. Hope this helps...

You'll have to be a line qualified CA to be able to get a FSDO to sign off.

I'm sure if you do a search you can find out how to do the AF course pretty easily and it's not time consuming at all.

As a pilot here with a current CFI/CFII/MEI I will just pay the cash to renew them. Easier to pay then to let it lapse and go through more hurdles to get it renewed, even if I don't use them.

Anyone else transitioning to the Saab? I start in a class soon.

To repeat what is usually said: "One thing's for sure, you will not get the job if you don't apply."

Hey Pook, how come you couldn't get the CAPT position even though you have the required times? I'm interviewing for the same, but it would be a bummer to be hit with that news...since it's my whole reason for applying. Hopefully they're not bs'ing

I can't pm you..just email me at eman33055@yahoo; my interview is the 26th and I wanted to get some info.

Thanks man.
