According to the staffing bid, this company will need 236 pilots on property to fill all vacancies....By the end of summer we will probably have 250, with more on the way. I guess they plan on a lot of attrition?

They have 14 saabs scheduled for delivery by the end of the year bringing the total Saab fleet to 21 by year end. We have 21 Beech 1900's right now. I dont know what the phase out rate of the 1900's will be. I have recieved conflicting info reguarding this. I don't think they can phase the remaining 1900's up north out as quickly as originally planned just do to the massive amount of flying they want to take on. We were told by the union and management that the buisness plan is to have 50 saabs, 8 1900's and 550 guys on property by May 1st, 2013. If you look on the FAA website they have 67 N numbers secured for 3M.

My guess is this is why all the hiring etc.

Apparently rumor has it they are also in talks with Saab reguarding the 2000. We are also supposedly getting the IAH United flying in the spring of 2013 and this is why they are trying to up the delivery speed of the Saab but who knows.

Is there a way at Silver for the captains to renew ones CFI certificate through the POI/FSDO?
My CFI expires at the end of September and I don't feel like signing up to American Flyers to do my renewal.

Mine expires at the end of the month...and I still did the whole AF thing (especially since it's free)...

You've got till September to knock out a section-a-weekend. It's a welcome refresher after all.

I forgot to mention my situation. My CFI is due at the end of September. I never had to pay for the American Flyers renewal. I do not want to pay for the renewal even it is lifetime. My previous renewals have been on upgrading certificates (CFII and MEI) or merit (5 passes within the previous 24 calendar months with an 80% pass rate or greater). Another situation that I have is that I start class with Silver on July 9th. In which I will be engrossed in training for 6 weeks. At the end of those 6 weeks I will be moving, doing IOE, and sitting reserve (which from what I am hearing is not real reserve, but 80 or so block hours a month). I am thinking that it will be hard for me to do the renewal course within that time period considering that I will be busy.

What airline did you come from?

No airline-- Flying charter in SoFL/CFIing. According to interview I will be a FO for a while although I do have enough time for CA.
Hopefully It won't be a long wait to upgrade.

Only thing that worries me are the bases. Going to be quite the commute from SoFL to the north:mad:

Gangsta 06-23-2012 11:49 AM

I am planning on moving to the base that they assign me. I have done the commuting thing and it is not good. I am planning on getting an apartment at the base that they assign me in the middle of nowhere. Then on my days off commuting back to civilization.

BTW.. I live in Central Florida right now...

All the growth is gonna be in FL for the most part I think. You will get pretty much w/e you want in FL in no time if you get on soon. Especially as an FO.

If your on the Saab all the north stuff will be TDY initially so that will also give you time to figure out what you want to do.

Yeah, I'm really hoping to get based out FLL ASAP since I do live in Miami.
I really hope it does't take too long to get it awarded to me.
