Question now will be if silver can fill these classes? In comparison to pay and bennies the other regionals have it better for the same requirements, obviously except Great Lakes.

Be interesting to see what develops here, hopefully they get their capt upgrade program approved soon for the Saab and another staffing bid. If another bid comes around I think that's where we might see attrition.

Flitestar, you wanted help, so here goes. Stay away if you have other options.

No flame intended, but why are you feeling jaded? I thought not long ago you were super pumped to get this gig.

Do they still have the training contract?

Flitestar 02-01-2013 08:45 AM

Veeeery good question ^^^

Just a comment on 1000 hrs experience at a 121 carrier for capt upgrade and 1500 hrs for fos: I called the dot to see when the final rule will be published, and there will be a grandfather of sorts they said. Up to a five year implementation timetable. Unfortunately, the final rule won't be published until oct, so based on the law in the default section, all fos must have ATP by aug 1st, and any captains must have 1000 hrs 121 time. My question to them was if capts at regionals will be downgraded if the 1000 hr requirement was not met by aug 2013. They did not have an answer. Just putting that out there so if you might be affected to look into it.

Oops, the 1000hr requirement for upgrade is part of the proposed rule, not the law....so if you can upgrade before, go for it. Not sure how the final rule will affect that.

Decent seniority is subjective the guys that want to be FL based have to decide what's more important to them flying or living in FL? There has been a couple of chances to switch bases if people wanted to head north and fly.

Wonder why after changing my preferential bid in December why I'm not up north somewhere.

Would you rather the company have furloughed??

I'm glad the company was willing to just increase the reserve levels for the short term. Extra reserves around the holidays and in the winter months are never bad things to have at your disposal when the weather gets crappy.

Curious, if your recommendation to others is to stay away, why haven't you left?

I don't want people to get furloughed. I haven't left yet because most days I don't want to and deal with it. I say negative things after a really bad day.

Ridiculous is NOT semi senior guys sitting reserve, home based, on the beach in sunny Florida making guarantee.

Perfect, no, ridiculous not even close.

I'm certainly not living in base, nor on the beach. Can you guys really blame me for wanting to fly (last flight was 24 December), that's what we are all here to do. If I could do that, I'd have a better attitude. When the Union reps are paying themselves with $6,000 for bypass pay when there are guys who made a few hundred dollars or less and an email is sent out telling us not to gossip or be mad about it it's a bit disappointing. When I got that email, that's why I posted to stay away so forgive me for venting a little.

Silver Airways

Changing a pref bid doesn't automatically move a person. There was a staffing bid and volunteer tdy for guys to go up north and fly for a bit if they couldn't get a full position move.
