As one who has been waiting way too long to upgrade, it's getting harder and harder to find reasons to stay. When speaking with the CP after the initial staffing bids, his first statement was, don't worry about it, it will won't happen. Meaning they had no intentions on ever following through with what was published. (Just resetting the 12mo clock) Next, he said that he couldn't wait for planes to be flown by robots, so he didn't have to deal with pilots anymore. Now, with the mass exodus of FOs to go fly jets and make more money, it looks like an upgrade class will take place any time in the near future. I say this because I don't believe they'll upgrade anyone when short FOs and check airman are sitting right seat FO unavailability. It appears many have put in their resignation in the last few weeks and many others I spoke with have upcoming class dates elsewhere.
I'm not trying to be negative, rather just seeking opinions of what good could come of this.
What is way too long to upgrade?
Do you have the requirements to upgrade? 121 time etc?
Will it be shorter where your looking?

What does the CP's attitude have to do with your career choices? Who cares if he loves or hates you? You think the CP at another regional is going to give you warm hugs? Just saying management is management where ever you are.

Now for what good can come of this.... Your choice to stay or go is a personal one. Is Silver the best place to build a resume and bounce? Not at the moment. Stay if you like the flying. Stay if you have a good QOL. (MS based people need not respond. We know you hate it) stay because there is some stability in the fact that Silver is new with plans to grow. If none of these things appeal to you. (And I know for a lot of people it doesn't). Then leave. Not trying to be negative either. Just trying to give you an answer to your question from my point of view. Im sure you'll get the normal "Silver sucks you should leave" in multitude.

XJT, S5 are the silver pilot refuge spots it seems. I myself am going to XJT. I think some got a mad dog job in Florida. I know others are lined up for interviews at different places

CP's at other airlines wont fire you for some of the reasons that ours has. I care if he loves or hates me because he's the one in control of my job and I'll tell you right now my run in with him is a huge factor in my leaving. Sure an upgrade will most likely come faster here than at others places, but I refuse to work for a company that does business like Silver does. Expressing my concerns up the chain of command did nothing so it was time to talk with my feet. With that being said every airline, job, industry etc. etc. has problems and IMO you try and choose the one with the least sometimes you hit a home run and other times you strike out, but you can always go out to bat for another team if need be. You want more info PM me.

Amen.... But it stems all over the company. The sad thing is management is content with running an airline with less than mediocre efforts much less standards. Seems fleiger wants change in the company, I hope he's aggressive enough to clean up the mess left at his plate.

Well you sure showed him...
Im sure he loses sleep because you left.

I hope your as vocal about Horizons Management when you have that loving drum circle session with them... Lmao

Making a career decision because you dont like the CP isnt the best way to go about things.... He could be gone tomorrow and you left for what?
To the original question... Weigh the positives and negatives. If there are more negatives FOR YOUR SITUATION then leave... But make your own decision and don't leave because other people say you should...

Everyone thats here was grateful for the call... Seems to be a lot of "what have you done for me lately" going around...

Exactly... everyone has to weigh their personal options I guess. If the FOs keep leaving with no replacements, combined with the Capts that will start to move on to bigger and better things in the next year, they'll have a lot of challenges ahead.

And in reference to the CP, no hugs are needed, just someone who does their job. Specifically, "Facilitates and encourages positive communications between crewmembers and the office of the Chief Pilot." or "Acts as liaison between SAC and the pilot's union" The job function is not to yell at pilots, but to work as middle managers that are liaisons between the pilots and company management. Show me one other successful airline whose chief pilot views pilots as a hindrance on success.

Cruz -

How long do you think it will be before the luster wears off at your new company? Will it last longer than the love fest at Silver?
You are awfully critical of Silver when you praised them so highly not so long ago for having enough faith in you to give you that chance you so desired. Seems your attitudes shift pretty quickly.

It is good you 'talked with your feet'.
More should do that. I hope this time around that you listen a little more closely to some of those that have gone before you.

As for some of the other comments:
- How do you know CPs at other airlines won't fire you for the same things that you allege the CP at Silver fired people for?
- Is he really the one in control of your job? I'm seriously asking this because I would think that there would be quite a few others who would have a say in a termination (your union for one).
- I'm not sure if you have ever posted about your run-in with the CP, but are you sure that you wouldn't get the same results if you brought up a similar problem at your new airline?

I'm familiar with the incident and I can only say that it would never have happened at Trans States.

Not going to put any more out there until Cruz does but thats just from me.

That being said...this place isn't ALL bad. It's a diamond in the rough just looking for a way to shine!

(I swear I'm not drinking the kool-aid, just trying to counter all the doom & gloom of late)
