The latest estimate is the first ATR will begin "proving runs" in Feb or Mar 2018. I think it will be awhile before they hire directly into the ATR as they plan to continue operating the SAAB until the ATRs can fully replace the SAAB fleet sometime in 2020. Nothing firm yet, but it looks like getting into the ATR from the SAAB will be via the standard bidding process with FLL possibly being the first crew base to start transitioning to the ATR.

Hey guys,
I know this has probably been answered before, but I went back about 75 pages and couldn't find it. Other than Frontier, where is people going after Silver?
I'm currently working for another regional and I am sick of commuting. I missed my commute to work once due to weather, since it was a 4 day high credit trip, including per diem cost me about $1k. Not to mention how many times I haven't been able to come home after a long trip.
I'm nowhere close to upgrade where I'm at, so I've been considering a lateral move, and living in Orlando, Silver is pretty much the one. Any advice about this?

I live and fly out of Tampa and it is very nice to be able to drive home at the end of a trip and not be worried about making a flight or connection. I was based in MCO for a couple of months when I first got out of training because there were no holes at TPA and that drive was a bit longer for me but doable. Hope that helped.

There's a variety of places that pilots go from here. I know of several who went on the one of the majors: Southwest, United, etc. A good friend here is in "the pool" for JetBlue and is just waiting for a training date. The deal Silver has with Frontier is for a Career Path Program which includes a guaranteed interview.

Fly507, yes QOL is pretty good. I have lots of time off (I've only flown 20-30 hours per month on reserve)=lower pay right because there are more FOs in Tampa than we need. Also, this time of year the airline is in it's lowest operational pace. Things will pick up in the Spring and when I have a line starting in Feb or Mar, I will be flying more (70-75 hours per month)=less time at home/more pay.

Awesome! I just put my app, see what happens. Think QOL and the convenience of driving to work beats making 6 more bucks an hour. Especially when you end up spending money on hotel nights and missing the commute to work and in turn missing the pay of an entire trip.
Thank you for the info!
