Look what I just received from Great Lakes.

This email has been sent in response to your resume submitted in consideration of a Pilot position with Great Lakes Airlines. We have reviewed your credentials and are very interested in speaking with you about our current openings*.

*Please be advised that the following minimums must be met prior to scheduling an interview:



750 Hours of Total Time

50 hours of multi-engine

At least 21 years old

ATP written completed - Preferred - If you don't have this, it must be completed within six months of employment

First Class Medical

At least 80 hours logged in the last 6 months

At least 35 hours logged in the last 90 days

Multi-engine (3 take-offs/landings in last 90 days)

Instrument (6 approaches in last 6 months)



Two year or four year degree preferred



· If Degree is from an approved aviation university please contact your school and bring qualifying paperwork for restricted ATP to interview.






If you do not meet the above minimum requirements, please reply to this email noting which minimum(s) you do not currently meet. You will receive an email response with an update on the status of your application.

Our junior domiciles are Fort Dodge, IA, Williston, ND, Farmington, NM, Prescott, AZ, Pierre, SD and Cheyenne, WY. It is highly likely that you will be placed initially at one of these bases. Please reply and let us know if you are not interested in these locations and we will remove your name from consideration.

If you meet the minimum requirements as described above, and are interested in discussing this opportunity further, please email me to set up an interview. Please include your 6 month and 90 day times when emailing.

Interviews will be held on through out next few weeks in Denver, CO. Transportation to the interview is not provided.

Additionally class, if selected, lasts 4-6 weeks and is unpaid. However, if selected, hotel accommodations are provided for during class.

I interviewed at Great Lakes a number if years ago. I was offered the job and declined. I would say that the interview experience is worth your time, if you will not incur any cost.

Getting more interview practice is almost always a good idea, even if you have no interest in working there. Especially if you are local and won't incur any costs. Prepare like you really want the job, ace the interview, and build your confidence for the future interviews you really want.

No pay during training? 750 total time? What is going to happen if said applicant doesn't have 1500hrs when that new rule kicks in? I think are in a great position to do what a lot of fellow Pilot's would love to do. Go to the interview and then tell them you will be declining their offer due to no pay during training and a non-liveable wage.

It already has been in effect. They don't specify 750 is for military.

With all the cr@p i read about this place, how is it possible that they are still in business. Who in their right mind would purposely move to one of these out station bases making peanuts, i don't get it.

Do us (professional pilots) and yourself a favor. Complete the interview with 100% effort, then decline the offer with sincerity. You will be better for it when the important interview comes.

My plan is to take the interview since I'm local here in Denver. I've been out of professional flying for a few years and I will take this interview very seriously since I consider myself to be a professional. I will also ask the normal questions an interviewee asks during the interview. Questions regarding the future plans of the company, domiciles for new hires, training and general QOL to be expected, etc. etc. Based on the answers I receive and the perceptions I get, if offered the job, I will certainly consider it at that point.
