Poor Great Lakes :(

Combine that with a "flow" agreement and pilot supply, pay, and training problems are all taken care of. The consolidation effect seeps down from the majors to their regional "partners" to the flight schools. It's ab initio without a contract; brilliant for management but will kneecap our contract negotiations.

Express Jet and Delta have also started a program, again through UND / ERAU.
Both work as you describe, except the time building isn't paid for.
Junior/Senior year Interview & Internship -> Instructing with University to 1000TT -> Transfer to Express Jet -> Guaranteed interview with Delta.
Delta keeps track of all academic, instruction, and Express Jet records and weights into the final hiring decision.

Have they stop interviewing and hiring? I applied over a month ago and not a peep. I already have my ATP and thought they were needing people with my qualifications. What's going on over there? Are they just winding down their whole operation knowing they won't last long with the new ATP rule and soon to be DT/FT rules coming Jan 2014?

Just a little different situation then you I guess. I retired six years ago and flew contract till 2009 and went on a sabbatical till now. I haven't hit 50 yet so I still got some years left in the industry. I have not touched an airplane since I quite contract work in 2009. I was offered a DEC position at Gojet but turned it down because I will not commute. I have never flown a little turbo prop and that has been sparking my interests lately. Also I will not commute out of the DEN area and Great Lakes looks to be a perfect fit for my current situation. I really don't care about the low wages due to retirement income. I have young kids still in school so a commute is out of the question. I just need something to keep me busy and pays a little because while on sabbatical I was spending way too much in all the other hobbies I got into.

I have an interview at Express jet in early Sept. but I've heard that DEN is really senior so that would mean a commute for me which I will not do. I also have an interview with RAH in mid Sept. I have heard that the Q400 in DEN is very senior and they are closing the EMB-170 or 190 base in DEN. Again that means I would have to commute. I have not put in at Skywest because they are only hiring into the EMB-120 which means a commute for me since they do not have a Brasilia base in DEN. I also put in at RAH/Frontier and was told all new hires would be going out to a new base on the east coast and DEN is very senior. Again this means a commute.
So it goes back my original question of what is going on at Great Lakes. Have they stopped all hiring and interviewing? Not that I'm dying to go work there, I just know for me that it would be a good fit since there is no way I will ever commute.
