Over 50 mile is important for qualifying for ratings. The 500 hour requirement for part 135 operations only needs to be between two different airports, no matter how far apart they are.
Holy crap, I wonder what my numbers would look like then. wowza

Hey everyone,

Just checking in to see how things are going at Ameriflight lately, how’s the flying, morale, and hiring outlook?

I recently crossed 1,650 TT with 1,550+ PIC, 30+ ME, and a completed ATP written. I'm instructing full-time and looking to take the next step. I'd love to join the team if they are hiring or expecting openings soon.

Appreciate any insights—thanks in advance!

Ameriflight isn't the place to look. There's almost zero outside hiring right now. Nearly 100% of our First Officers across all fleets are upgrade eligible and haven't been able to upgrade because of no open positions on the Beech 99.

Never thought I’d see a 135 freight company, especially Ameriflight, stop hiring. Covid being the exception, cargo places were always short of pilots. They aren’t the only ones either as a few other 135s I know of have paused hiring. My how the tables have turned. On the other hand Jetlinx keeps posting for jobs but they are a different story. You get more time off with freight then you do with Jetlinx hahah

And ATP prerequisites require flight 50 miles straight line distance but don’t require landing at another airport.

Any other suggestions on potential employers in the 135? Most likely I have applied already, but just in case. Next step will be to get some face time with these companies. Thanks for the response. Very helpful.

Educated speculation: no one is hiring. Hiring in the sense of they post a job opening, you apply by email/fax/whatever, they review your paperwork and invite you for an interview. Everything between CFI and the legacies are jammed up atm.

You want a job, you need to be shaking hands and kissing babies. Go wear out some shoe leather.

Have you looked at the Fractiioals? I know Plane Sense opened their application window, and I believe NetJets and FlexJets are hiring.

Definitely qualified. If you already have an application in, you may still be able to get into the September class. I don't know for sure if we will have an October class. Next opportunity after that won't be until at least January.
