I personally would prefer the PC12, speed-comfort-avionics, Plus pressurized. Gives all the same shortfield performance as the van but with the speed of a King Air.

This little Czech gem has been floating around the rumor mill:

The Van and the Pilatus will never happen. 9K won't go single engine or turbine. The EV-55 has never flown so expect that to take years for approval.

Of the 3 the EV-55 is most likely. The 402 has a few years left and they will be stretched if the EV-55 is the choice frame and the Chech's give us a deal on the price.

Also those turbine's will come off and be replaced with a TCM Jet-A burning diesel engine (which they claim they have engineered and will produce enough power). They don't want turbines because of how many cycles we put on our planes.

Cycles... We ran 10-14 legs a day on the PC12 and still kept going with no problems and the company still runs'em like that!

10-14 legs is a slow day for most of our fleet.

WOW! Thats impressive! I was beat and broken after 7.9hrs of flight time and 14 legs under my belt every Wed/Fri/Sun. My brain was mush, not that it was really solid to start off with

That is average, not really a slow day though.

Getting back to Turbines, cycles are not limited in all cases.
Trend monitoring is automatic on new aircraft and very easy for mx to see how they are treated over time.

The point was that Cape Air doesn't want turbines. So don't expect to see them.

That's 14 legs per aircraft per day. There are some lines that fly pilots that much but they are rare. Average for non ack air stuff is 6-8 legs @ 5-7 hours flight time.

I get it now!

For that deisel to produce the same that a PT6 produces in terms of power will be a horrible weight penalty for that airframe. The EV55 is no slug.
