Adding to this question, how much seniority does it take to stay in a Caribbean base year round?

No more Ponce, the subsidy we had went away after JetBlue started flights in there.

I think that AXA, NEV, VQS might be options year round. The rest of the bases shrink during the summer. It wouldn't be impossible but would not be very likely.

During the winter for SJU yes, prob not for MAZ. You'd be displaced to a northern base during the summer months from either base. If you don't want to move every 6 months the Midwest and some northern bases you'd be able to hold year round.

Do they ever hire seasonal pilots or do most people just have to move every 6 months between northern and southern bases?

No not usually. I guess if they were in a tight spot but I've never heard of it. If you come in with your ATP they want at least 6 months out of you. If they give you it they want a year. So I guess you could come in before a seasonal change get, put in your 6 months, and then leave if you don't want to transition. You be eligible for rehire the next season with their current work rules but there is a contract coming with the teamsters soon that may change all of that.
