Cirrus FADEC
The Cirrus SR-22 aircraft that are currently flying, do NOT have a FADEC system installed. I checked with both the Cirrus factory and the Continental engine tech rep to be certain, and both stated there is no FADEC system currently installed. I could not find any reference to a FADEC in a friend's owners manual but the above mentioned conversation confirmed it.
Both men stated that the Continental engine company and Cirrus have a "true" FADEC in R & D and once testing is complete and an FAA approval is granted, the IO-550-N engine might have the system installed late in CY 2007. Perhaps this is what you were thinking of.
It's still a great 4 place single engine aircraft and I wish that I had the $600 K+ to buy one.
