It generally depends on the size of the base. The two biggest, DFW and DEN, will give you the most options in terms of available flights on airlines with reciprocal agreements and overnight shifts.

I wouldn't commute for this job. We have enough agreements now that it wouldn't be too difficult to do, but the schedule, at least here in Portland, isn't always conducive to commuting. I'm the junior guy right now, but I'll occasionally have a trip, then one day off, then another trip.

You could do it, but you'll probably end up paying a bit for hotels each month, or doing some couch surfing.

That being said, if anybody gets on and ends up commuting to Portland, my couch can be rented for a very low rate!

When I asked a question earlier about Atlanta base, hawk21 said, "There literally only have one route. ATL-MSL-BNA. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over again."

Could someone that flies out of Atlanta or someone that knows give me the details of this? What time do you report? How many legs do you fly between those stops all day? How many hours flight time will you get in a day? When do you quit? Etc, etc, etc,

The day shifts typically start in the morning & are 12 hr duty days, 6 legs at 5.9 scheduled, 2100 end.

Night shifts, 2130 departure, CDO in Shoals, 2.2 scheduled, 0815 end, 2 legs.

I'm waiting for a F/O slot, hopefully soon. Good luck with that new opportunity!

Any boutique guys/gals know how hard it is to get LAX or PHX for street captain? Is it even possible as a new hire?

Thanks in advance.

I believe that we hire street captains into all bases. It just depends on where the openings are. It has been posted here that PHX is full. I cannot confirm that and I have no idea about LAX staffing.

Last I heard we were hiring into DEN and BWI.
