Time building South Florida

Three persons ( or entities) responsible for the airworthiness of an aircraft:
- the owner/operator
- A&P/AI/MX facility
- …….the PIC
Getting a ding on your certificate for flying an aircraft that is not airworthy will be career altering and prove to be very costly in the long run.
$60/hr DRY RATE leaves zero profit for an operator so consider all they’re skipping on to make a buck.
Consider that also when you’re “sharing” flight time with a stranger. Who is admitting to being PIC when ramp checked?

Because you’re not doing the pilotage, dead reckoning or radio navigation required.
FAA Council ruling:

One notable exception, XC for ATP does not require a landing > 50 nm
You and a buddy are flying to an airport 101NM away and he is PIC for a portion of the flight and you are PIC for a portion of the flight.
You can now log your part as XC with the understanding you need to log the furthest point he flew or the transfer point.
Either as lat/long or overhead an airport or VOR bearing/distance.
Thats ATP only though.
If I ever join the FAA this “safety pilot time” would really be my pet.
It was never the intend of the regulation to allow time building, the intend was regaining Instrument currency after your 6 months have expired and since the ‘look out’ has to be PIC they may log it.
