61.51...logging PIC:
(e) Logging pilot-in-command flight time. (1) A sport, recreational, private, commercial, or airline transport pilot may log pilot in command flight time for flights-
(i) When the pilot is the sole manipulator of the controls of an aircraft for which the pilot is rated, or has sport pilot privileges for that category and class of aircraft, if the aircraft class rating is appropriate;
(ii) When the pilot is the sole occupant in the aircraft;
(iii) When the pilot, except for a holder of a sport or recreational pilot certificate, acts as pilot in command of an aircraft for which more than one pilot is required under the type certification of the aircraft or the regulations under which the flight is conducted; or
(iv) When the pilot performs the duties of pilot in command while under the supervision of a qualified pilot in command provided—
Blah Blah Blah
I don't think logging PIC time is as grey as you warned. As an instructor, I don't find that interpreting the reg is confusing.
2 cents...put it on my tab.

I didn't say the LEGAL portion of it is a gray area... I said to AIRLINES, it is a gray area. Most airlines only count PIC time as time you actually signed for the plane, not simply time you were allowed by regulation to write it in your logbook as PIC. I would make it very clear at any interview that this time was dual received and PIC (which is how you should have logged it), and not actual "Decision maker."

I have 1050 TTL, 55ME, and have hit the wall on advancement. Anyone can feel free to shoot me ideas, I have apps in with all regional's. I know some of you guys have ideas, I would take something in the NJ/NYC great area for 300+ a week that would advance me with XC/IMC time, or ME time, or I would gladly move for a right seat gig thats about 400+ month anywhere else. Anyone know of caravan SIC gigs or the like? I fly jumpers and I can spend another year for 500/week flying the 182 and logging another 600/hrs but it is all day vfr local thats the problem, and I am not getting that turbine time like I should be, i might luck out but I could see another year going by with only a handful of me/turbine time. I have helped a few people on here, please feel free to help me.

Keep updating your airline apps every 50 hours or so because it lets them know you are eager. Gather some letters of recommendation from anyone you have flown for while things are slow. You do not have your CFI yet I believe. I would at least start on the written studying effort so you can say you are working on it. The CFI is a really good thing to have on the entry-pilot resume. Also consider intern jobs, Hawker Beechcraft just hired a bunch and there may be other opportunities.
