Default Low Hour Pilot Looking For A Job

Hey y'all,

So I've come across these forums several times and a lot of people have gotten some fantastic advice in the past and I have no place to turn to and could really use your help.

I'm a 21 year old, commercial licensed, instrument rated pilot ASEL & AMEL with only 255 hours and several other endorsements (tail wheel, high performance, complex). I'm about to graduate with a bachelors in aviation and a minor in business and have tried to get a job from 50+ companies and nobody is biting because I have so few hours. I'm not an instructor and I don't have the money to become one, so I'm just straight out of luck. I've done thousands of Google searches to find a company where I can hopefully build up time and make a little bit of money So I can at least get my career started. And so far: nothing.

Do any of you guys know of any places that a guy like me can get some work as a pilot and I am willing to relocate literally anywhere. (Currently in OK)

I'd really appreciate it and I know I'm asking for way more than I should, I just don't know where else to turn

If you want time as quick as possible, ACE cargo in Alaska. They hire most anyone. Hopefully you make it out alive.

Skydive AZ. Skydive Perris.

There's places offering to pay for your CFI for a 2-year contract if that's your cup of tea.

Banner tow banner tow banner tow. Got about 500 hours+ a summer. Great flying, really builds stick and rudder skills and is fun as hell. I did it in New Jersey, so if thats where you go, Id get your cfi and instruct in the fall and winter. Send me a PM and ill hit you with some more info if you're interested

Hey Klubster,

There is a small operation based out of Georgia called Air Star Charter that was hiring second officers in their CJ1 at 250 TT a few months back when one of their (few) pilots passed through my FBO. You wouldn't be getting any PIC but it would be hours nonetheless. It's kind of in the middle of nowhere though.

Good luck!

Im assuming you are coming out of the OU program, but if not doesnt really matter. Do whatever you need to do to go there and take their CFI course and be an instructor. Trust me, even if you have to take out a loan, the best way to advance your career at this stage is to get 1K hours instructing at the 141 school and move on from their. And dont go get a full time job in a CJ1 right seat. The time is worthless and doesnt count toward any additional time for 135 and ATP mins. I did it and it was a pretty big waste of my time. Nothing wrong with doing it on the side though.

Have you thought about aerial survey? You're kind of late in the game this season (October through May) for the Pictometry vendors (SkyLens, Northern States, Air America, etc.), but you could always throw in a resume and see if there are last minute openings to fill.

I got on at 256 hours in June, and am sitting at 621 now, even with two months off and poor weather lately. Great way to build time and get paid fairly for it.

If you can get to 500 TT hit up Great Lakes Airline or Cape Air. I had interviews with both at like 510 Hours.

Hey uavking,

How do you like the survey work? I applied over the summer with 300tt and they all said get back to them when I hit 400tt.

Check out dropzone.com to be a skydive pilot. The hiring picks up in the spring so if you get on now you can be ahead of the game. It's all PIC time and it's a lot of fun while building time and making money. Lots of places give you free housing. I got a job under 300tt.

Good Luck!!!
