How anyone, who has never flown the line at PDT, has the audacity to post ANYTHING about the schedules is ludicrous!! No, not every trip is commutable. No, you aren't going to be able to commute easily with 2 days off, because guess what, the lines aren't all built commutable!!!!! This crap ive heard from new people talking about a trip not starting until afternoon and ending before noon on day 4 is a load of bull. Idk where you guys are being told that's how it is on the line but it's not. Quit spitting garbage out of your mouth if you've never been under the punishment of scheduling here! It's a smack in the face to us who are constantly beaten up and taken advantage of. BTW y'all hear about the 7day stretches now? Oh yea, it's happening.
The end.
The end.
Easy killer. The schedules aren't great but they're getting better. The credit jumped nearly 10 hours per line this month which was by design.
I'd say overall 50-75% of the trips are commutable if you put the work into find the trips. Beyond that there is the 48 hour period that helps and GCOMs.
That "7 day stretch" is a one off case. Someone got a BUP because they just got off of SOE and the day 7 is a deadhead home. Again, this is something they can change if they choose to do so with a GCOM.
If you treat every line like a 11-12 day off line then you won't be disappointed. Unfortunately that's just how it is here. Keep your nose in the contract and make it work for you.

I find 11 days off disappointing. Other carriers may have a similar contract minimum, but the line holders at those same carriers get 3,14,15 days off easy. Oh and they still credit 85 hours. Please explain why we should be content with subpar QOL.

I'm not saying be content, things could change in the future. We should actively be striving for better, and no doubt the negotiating committee is trying.
What I am saying is, I don't understand the people who sign up here knowing damn well that our scheduling is awful, then complain about it. Expect 11 days off per month here, don't get disillusioned into thinking the lines that say 13-15 days per month off are actually real, then you won't be surprised when the final comes out.
People have options who they choose to be employed by. Us that are here currently have made our bed, now we sleep in it. Prospective newhires and people who are so disenchanted with Piedmont should vote with their feet. That's the only way it changes.

Yup... 7plus day trips has been authorized by management.. Also 30 hour rest at out stations. This was clearly directed to scheduling management with the... we will deal with it later and I'll handle it attitude.
You'll notice we didn't receive a no sick call without dr notes this and last holiday.. this is only due to the feds watching us now.
The contract has had fresh eyes review it and it has been reinterpreted and directives handed down to scheduling.
Most new fos I work with are working illegal trips and or reassigned to plain garbage.
Every captain except for 12 senior guys were interfaced to 11 days off in july unless you have vacation or conflict bid.
The airline is literally doing everything they can every single day to make flight ops run every day.
Unfortunately this year, triple premium is not enough to motivate many of us to work anymore.

Maybe, the MEC has been keeping our new TA so secret that nobody knows what the changes are.
Any day now we should know once they are able to turn the AIP into the TA and both parties agree to put it up to a vote for the pilot groups.
That being said, I think reserve rule improvements were low on the list of wants from the pilot group.

It sucks that the situation became so dire at the last moment here. The CLT base was bad timing considering the summer flying is well known to be some of the busiest. I knew we were in trouble when I saw the number of anticipated BUP was 0 for July.
I think this is more a symptom of the same staffing issues we’ve seen in recent memory, more so than management trying to abuse us. Hopefully it’ll get better when they catch up finally once we stop adding jets. However, I hope we keep adding more jets and the training department figures the bottle neck out finally.

Rumor has it that MK is withholding information is withholding information critical to finishing the last point from the committee.

Who are we supposed to blame? Last time I read the FOM my job was to operate the aircraft safely from point A to point B exactly when and how they tell me. Their job is to staff and run an airline.
